    brake adjusters

Acually, depending on what you would want for them, and how shipping would be, I would be willing to take several of them, as it would be easier than tourching them, especially with two axles to go. Let me know. Eric

    brake adjusters

Guys, Hope someone is willing to help me out. Hit a bit of a snag in the 215's restoration, as all the brake adjuster blocks are locked up with rust. Out of the first four I have worked on, I have freed 3 using pb blaster and a torch. The fourth however, simply snapped the tabs off. So, I...

    It Runs!!

RE: picture of linkage Yeah, my linkage is similar to the small box in the second picture, which is hard to see even in my book.

    It Runs!!

RE: Not an expert pa.rich, sorry, there is an early style linkage which differs slightly, you can see it in the -10 manual, for the very early models, and mines a 52. Also, the vac line is not stripped, just the brass "L" fitting joining it with the gov, which I already have off. As soon as...

    It Runs!!

RE: Holly carb yes, those are both there, and also one which is on the carb and pulls up on the linkage, to assist? it seems to be the early style linkage in the book, so it might be different that yours.

    It Runs!!

RE: Holly carb yes, the springs pull them nearly shut. I think that the stripped out fitting was causing a vacuum leak for the governor, which caused the governor to open the butterflies.

    It Runs!!

RE: Holly carb yes, with no springs, the butterflies are nearly closed by themselves.

    It Runs!!

RE: Holly carb Karl, I belive the linkage appears correct now, as it seems to be doing what it should... Still I will doublecheck. Thanks for your help. Eric

    It Runs!!

Possible answer. Well, in the half hour I had today, I tried out a few of pa rich's suggestions. Actually, first I double checked the idle speed screw, cause you just never know  Next, I went to check/tighten the governor vacuum line. So, I put the wrench on, and it tightened! Odd...

    It Runs!!

OK, still having problems with the linkage. :x My linkage is the one which has two smaller springs alongside the carb by the engine. since one of these ended up broken anyway, I went and replaced them with springs that seem to be quite a bit stronger. Now when we went to fire it up after...

    Auburn Salute to victory

Everyone... I finally have details on the STV show in September. It will be the 14th and 15th, at the WWII Victory Museum in Auburn, IN, sponsored by the Tri-State MVPA. Currently, For tables, indoors will be $15 each, or discounts for more than 5, and outdoor spaces will be $2 each. All...

    It Runs!!

Well, after removing the carb, and installing new gaskets, it appears as though that was not the problem. As it turns out, the linkage seems to be worn enough that the gas pedal will only return to within all but a 1/4 inch of idle, so it revs way up. Ron and I were going to attempt to make...

    It Runs!!

Guys, Pictures can be seen here: http://www.steelsoldiers.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB2&file=viewtopic&t=10011 It supposedly dumps, just have to get it running first. Eric It originally had a winch which was removed, however, thanks to cbvet, I do have a winch and all other pieces sitting in...

    It Runs!!

but not for long. After all the hard work the last month or so, we finally got to try to start the XM215 today. It last ran four or so years ago, before being parked in the junkyard. After several tries cranking, with no firing, the problem was diagnosed as dirty points by Ron of MV R&R...

    winch removal

Yeah, I do have more pictures, I'll try to get some up later. The truck looks better than it really is, a lot of underside rust, looks like it might have been used as a salt truck. The front cab and engine compartment are the best areas. Eric

    winch removal

Well, It took two trips total, but I managed to get nearly everything off the truck. Did end up having all the bolts torched off, but it went ok. Should have some pics on friday. Here's what it looks like without the winch: Is the Garwood winch used on the GMCs the same as the M35 winches?
