No, not all m1123 have gep engines. 1999 is when GM sold to AMG operations. So in 2000 they were considered AMG. The problem is that AMG was using old GM parts to build GEP engines. The block is the main concern and you need to look for the navistar markings on the block

Does anyone know the screw size and thread count that is in the windshield frame for the sun visor mounting location?
Went to mount mine last night and the bolt in the frame were full of paint.
Let me know.

This had the MAK upgrade and it states the springs were upgraded. To what, I don't know. I know the armor would have weighted a good bit.
One other issue I am dealing with is that GP stated this had a GEP engine in it. It is just a 506 block with no diamond markings.
I just picked up my M1123 yesterday. Overall pleased with the purchase and it was interesting to see the pick up site. The only issue I have is I wanted the GEP engine which GP said it had. It has a GM engine. They have about 75 M1123 in varies conditions.
I do have a question about my...
I have the 6.2 and don't have the part number. I went to autozone and got one for a 6.2 diesel chevy k2500, year, I think was 1985. The 1988 thermostatic was set for 195 degree and the 1985 one was set for 190 degree. Of course I wanted the lower temp.
Good new, replaced the friction pads in the fan and everything is now working. The old friction pad was half the size of the new ones. These were easier to install and only $24 compared to replacing the fan clutch at $250 bucks.
Installed them and pulled the power on the timer controller...
My HMMWV heats up to 240 degrees and it stays there. The fan moves back and forth with the fan control module is unplugged but there is no change in the fan speed.
I have checked about everything. Got the HWWMV a few months ago and replaced the anti freeze, thermostatic, checked the fan...
OK, I have read every post on HWWMV overheating problems and found that my fan clutch Hyd, TDU and Fan clutch work fine. The fan moves back and forth when the TDU is disconnected but no engagement of the fan. There is also on power loss so I know it must be slipping on the friction pads...
I am working on my new 1988 HMMWV and was replacing all the fluids. The manual states to for the gear hubs to add a pint of GO. What happens if you fill it up to the bottom of the fill plug?
Do I need to drain it down to a pint? or leave it alone.
Any help would be appreciated.

GREAT NEWS for me. Got approved today for my HMMWV. Now I got to find out how to pick it up in Savanna. I have a 5.5 hour drive there and hoping I can pick it up on Friday.
MUCH THANKS TO Jwade. Thank you so much for your help.
I am not an expert but have been reading up on this. Yes, it is supposed to be a direct replacement. I understand you get 10 more hp from the optimizer and solves a few of the block and head problems. They also changed the metal type to prevent block cracking due to water flow issues.
Anyone...
