Hey Gents,
I did make it. I bled that hub and let it cool down for about an hour (on the side of the highway). Then, I just tried to stay off the brakes the rest of the way.
Thanks to you both for answering my calls and for the advice. I really appreciate it. I'm here in Houston all...
Just did final check and one of the inside tires on rear axle was flat. I aired it up and looks like it's holding. I'll check it before I head out in the morning. Otherwise, looks like I might have to put the spare on.
I'm planning on rolling about 4am to beat Houston afternoon traffic...
Thanks guys--I really appreciate it. I'm bringing just about every tool I can think of to support in case something goes bad. She's in pretty good shape except for all the oil she's defecating out the blow-by tube. I guess the rings are done. She made it here all the way from Kennesaw GA...
Hey Folks,
Looks like the weather is going to be good along I-10. I think I'm going to drive Deuce No 3 to the farm from here (Baton Rouge) on Saturday. It's about 400 miles from here to Exit 674 (US-77) (about 1.5 hours west of Houston). I'm going all by myself with no chase vehicle...
Hey Smooth,
There aren't any for sale right now on GL, but I'd expect more. When I was up there, it looked like they had a pretty good inventory that would have to go sooner or later.
Donnie
Thanks DM for the advice.
All tires are aired up--so it's not that. The vibrations have something to do with the steering. They come and go and usually it's when I'm giving the wheel slight pressure to the left--like against the crown on the right lane of the highway. They aren't...
Recovered Deuce No 4 last week. Thanks again to everyone on the site with the brake bleeding tips and advice--that pressure bleeder is magic. The ANG guys up there were great.
She has newer hoses, electric wipers, and really good tires.
She made it home fine. The brakes had definitely...
Anybody know what the best fluid is for the transmission? I think it's supposed to be that GL-1, but is there anything better out there with today's technology (and easier to get)?
Hi Gents,
I've been researching the brake issue threads and can't figure this out so I thought I'd ask for input. I may or may not have a problem.
Here's the history:
Buckner Transport picked up my truck from Kennesaw GA about 4 weeks ago (they did an awesome job). After about 70 miles the...
Ok Gents--here's the update.
First, a few observations about riding around on a Deuce front fender:
It intakes so much air that it can easily suck your t-shirt in if you don't have the mushroom on.
Make sure your friend driving knows the flight path and doesn't make any erratic turns that...
Yeah...
Well, it ran 60 mph the whole way here from Kennesaw (about 550 miles) and she still runs with lots of power. Maybe that ride here did it??
My plan is to take her to the farm in TX about 400 miles away. Any thoughts on if she'd make it--or things I could do to increase my chances?
Hi Gents,
I'm pretty sure now it's coming out of the road draft tube coming off the valve covers--which I guess is good because it's not the turbo. And it's not the dipstick.
Any idea how/why so much could be coming out of that tube? The oil is not overfilled and it doesn't come out when the...
I've been around 3 other Deuces and none of them dump oil like this one. This is a lot of oil...
It went through 2 gallons in 130 miles.
Crankcase isn't overfilled, but I am using 15W-40.
So, you all think the turbo is terminal? Or is there an easy fix? Can you give me some more info on...
