Hey All,
Went up to Beauregard yesterday to prep a truck I won a couple weeks ago for recovery. I thought I'd fill everyone in.
Lots of trucks in lots of different conditions. All had great tires and soft tops (except one hard top). About 25% didn't have batteries. About 75% didn't start...
Gents,
Good evening.
I got my truck about two weeks ago from Kennesaw GA (Delivered by Buckner Transport--they did a great job). We knew it was going through a lot of oil and I've been trying to figure it out since I got it.
There was so much oil at first that I couldn't figure out where...
Warthog & Kaiser,
Thanks again--I went up there yesterday and bled the brakes with the pressure bleeder and following all of your advice. She's now got just fine brakes.
Now I just have to see if I can return the extra gallon of DOT5 I got from NAPA--that stuff costs a dollar an ounce!
Take...
Warthog and Kaiser,
Got it. Thanks for all the bleeding info. I drained the air tanks when I was up there last weekend. I'll bleed the system this week and pick it up on Wednesday.
Thanks again--I couldn't do it without you. Wish me luck.
Take care and I'll post some picks when get it...
Hey Rebelpride,
Buckner Transport picked up my Deuce from Kennesaw about two weeks ago for me.
She is in great shape, except it was defecating oil (I still haven't figured out where it all is coming from), the brakes locked up on them after about 70 miles, radiator leaks pretty good, and the...
Thanks for the pics and details Warthog.
I pulled out the -20 manual and looked at the procedure for bleeding the brakes. My MC doesn't have that "vent line" going back into the top of the cylinder--is that optional or does my Deuce have a major problem?
Also, the manual states it's...
Clinto & Warthog,
Thanks for all the advice--I really appreciate it. I just ordered one of those pressure bleeders. All I've got right now are the GL pictures. As soon as I get it home, I'll throw some pics up.
Thanks again--you guys make this site great.
Donnie
Good Evening Gents,
I just got back from Camp Beauregard checking out a Deuce I won prior to recovery later this week or next. Everything is great on it--it started right up.
Except... the brakes. It was wedged in between two other deuces, so I wasn't able to test them moving, but when I...
Hey All,
He just checked in. He's going from here (Baton Rouge) to Columbia SC. Right now he's a little past Montgomery AL. He said he's going to top off the differential and then check it every 100 miles. He did say it's leaking pretty bad.
Anyone have any other advice or would like to...
Westech,
Keep the axle full of axle grease or the differential full of fluid?
The axle gets grease through the fitting on top of the inner hub housing, right?
Thanks--I really appreciate it.
Donnie
Hi Gents,
I've got a friend on the road in the middle of a 700 mile recovery. He just called me and told me it looks like there's oil on the outside of the hub collecting in the wheel. He said there's about half a quart.
I know the axles are packed with grease so that shouldn't look like oil...
It was a pretty good jolt to say the least. We were probably going 15-20. I was close to the side of the creek and the water must have washed out a sinkhole right at the edge of these rocks. So, I kind of sank and smashed into only on the right side all at once. Luckily I was wearing the...
Hi Folks,
I had the Deuce in the creek over Christmas and in an effort not to get stuck again (I was on my second run) smashed into some rocks. This is what happened (see pics).
Looks like I sheared 2 bolts and broke off the top forward tab of the bracket.
But shouldn't be too hard to...
Hi Gents,
I'm newer to the Deuce World and I've been looking at all the trucks on GL. From what I can tell there are two different types of compressors on the multifuel. One has a flatter top with a squiggle it it. The other one has more air fins on the top and what looks like five bolts...
David and Carnac, thank you very much for the info--that was just what I needed. You guys have contributed a lot to this site and I really appreciate the new info.
