Like CARNAC said, do both, I had alt one go out on me so I bought a rebuild kit, and the day I went to go rebuild it, ALT2 went out. I was due to go to a show that evening, so I just thought I would rebuild alt 1 as the truck will run on just ALT1 in a pinch.
Low and behold, the idiots I was...
Fiberglass will not burn at the temperatures were are talking bout here. The paper vapor barrier might.
For a fiberglass batt to do its job properly, it cannot be compressed. Keep that in mind if you are thinking about shrink wrapping it. An R-19 batt compressed down to one inch gives you about...
As a former LEO, the term “accident” was never in our vocabulary. We referred to them as “crashes”. All paperwork involved uses the term “crash” on the form.
What we learned on the road is 95% of all crashes are caused by someone not paying attention. The other 5% can be mostly attributed to...
Welcome. I read posts on here for probably 4 months before I ever joined, and I’m pretty sure, of all my posts, I have never asked a single question. Everything I want to know has been asked and answered before. But if you cant find the answer, don’t be afraid to ask!
Again, welcome, and as...
Dave - Jumping the hot lead to the #2 position on the plug should not have done any harm, jumping it to the #1 position might have.
I’m not real clear on what exactly you did, you say you replaced the #1 alt, then tested the circuit, and found the feed not connected, then put you old alt back...
I love USAFSS’s idea, but you can combine with McKee’s idea, just say no activity within the last 365 days then purge? Maybe? Active, Current, Dormant, Purged.
On photos, yeah mulit photo upload would be nice, but I hate off site links, like photo bucket. I only have access to dial up out...
Spit on it! Kidding… have you tried soaking the canvas? Get it really wet, soaked, and it will swell a little. A little soap would not hurt at all. When it dries it will shrink back down.
Had the same problems, I replaced mine with a simple screw/nut/washer setup; with a nut in the front with a washer and the nut in the back with a washer. works great. It is a pita to adjust because you have to get to the nut in the back, but once done, it stays.
Part IV The Thanks
I don’t quite know how to even start this. To say thank you to all involved, seems way too much of an understatement. Gimpy, driving all the way from Cincinnati to escort us (about 2 hours) was more than appreciated, and Kip, for welcoming us to his farm, providing parts and...
Part III The Recovery
We arrived at John’s about 10:30 am, and Gimpy was already there. We went and did the title thing, and then came back and John went over the truck with us, and things that would need to be done. We loaded up the CARC, and four tires that we sold me along with the stone...
Part II The Inspection
It was about a 2 ½ hour drive, but we met up just fine. In his front yard, There were several deuces, trucks and trailers. I knew I had the right place. Then, I saw the most beautiful deuce I have ever seen. (no, not mine) he had just completed a frame off restoration and...
Part I The Introduction
This all started when I began talking to fellow members about purchasing a M109A3. I spoke to several people over the last few months, and got to know a few. Gimpy looked over a few we both knew about for me, and at one point even offered to sell me his. (you might have...
