mistaken1,
Thank you for posting that page from the NEC. I didn't have time to do it today because of work. All you guys need to remember to read the note under the table in question. The 2 columns "A" and "B", we need to be using column "A" because even though it is a neutral wire, it still...
#8 is a bit small for the 003a. If it were regular copper wires, it would be still kinda on the smallish side. In an SO cord or SOW for an 003a you actually need to go to a #4 awg wire size. The NEC has a special de-rating factor for type SO rubber cords, so you need even larger wire than you...
Good luck getting your generator running, the symptoms you describe sound like fuel issues to me. could be a gummed up IP?
As to the other direction of this thread, you guys need to read through this post. The NEC (National Electric Code) spells out in a lot of detail how to install a...
I agree with Carl, I doubt that the oil pressure switch is causing his problems. And for your own knowledge, the oil pressure switch "closes" with oil pressure. If you wanted to bypass it you would need to short the leads of the switch together or remove them and connect them together to...
The 1/4-18 EXT and 1/4-18 INT is just a male or female national pipe thread (NPT). The EXT one is going to be a male thread, and the INT one the female. You can get the proper adapters to convert from NPT to JIC at the Parker Store, or any place near you that sells hydraulic fittings. Get the...
That is probably the single best suggestion/offer I read in this entire post so far. I certainly hope somebody contacts you about this generous offer. I know there are several members with expertise and training in this particular area (website design and development), and I hope Chris takes...
Jim,
You are absolutely correct. If it's not the fuse or a loose connection, 90% of the time it's the regulator. The actual stator doesn't go bad that often, though a few members have had that happen. The regulators don't like having the batteries removed from the set while running, so you...
I just saw this thread. I'm glad to hear you found the stuck plunger and are in the process of repairing it. Let us know if you need any help or advice, I know there are a few people here who have taken them apart and done repairs.
A running genset, no. The time I was talking about is right after start-up, sometimes they don't start generating on their own. Several members have reported having to flash the field right after start-up because the generator didn't start producing on it's own.
I intend to so something very...
Nice job!
One question though...did you program a few rungs to flash the field in the event that the generator is running and not producing power on it's own?
The square box and the cylindrical thing are the capacitors, not necessary for the pump to run, just there to protect it from spikes.
No breaker or anything like that either....the rhythm you hear is just the pump pumping. Even though they appear to be clean inside, doesn't mean the guts are...
If the fuel level is below the float in the tank, then all 3 pumps should come on when you are in the Aux/prime position. If they all come on or at least 2 of them (if the tank is full and the transfer pump is not needed), then the pumps are fine, and the problem lies in your master switch. If...
