If it was tranny fluid (80w-90) you should be able to tell right away by the smell. If it was tranny fluid, you don't necessarily have to disassemble the tranny, just pull it and clean the clutch and flywheel really good with some brake parts cleaner. Also, make sure the vent on the top of the...
like Recovry4x4 said, read the manuals!!!!! Also search the site for other recovery posts and you can get a good idea of what other members have run into, and common problems to look for. You can even find all of the things you should take along on the recovery trip just in case you need them.
You should really read a post by gimpyrobb about pulling his transmission to clean his clutch from an overfull tranny. While he had it out he also changed the rear main. It's doesn't seem like it's that bad of a job, I'm doing mine today.
What I was getting to though is, the level of the...
I'm sorry to hear that. WHAT IN THE NAME OF GOT DID YOU GET A TICKET FOR? It couldn't have been for speeding...LOL.
Yeah, I got home safe, the truck is great. The body has issues I wish I didn't have, but the drivetrane is in awesome shape. I'm pulling the tranny tomorrow and cleaning the...
I couldn't really afford one either, but I figured with a decent running deuce, it will more than outwork my 3/4 ton Ram. So I bit the bullet and took a chance on a GL deuce. I got very lucky and it's a great runner that was just serviced. So I sold the Ram (It wasn't my daily driver anyway)...
Already thought of that when I build the pressure bleeder. I put an air line coupler on the end of my hose, and used the male end on my original cap. Now that I have a spare cap, I can just leave the coupler on there all the time.
That is a really good idea, I will do just that. The squirrel cage in the fan looks to be pretty rusty, but I spun it by hand and it's free and seems pretty smooth. I might get lucky and be able to run it as is.
I'm so tight I squeek!!! I figured "a penny saved is a penny earned"...
Today I went to Canton Ohio to pick up a chain hoist from china freight for my impending transmission job I'm starting tomorrow. Since I was going up that way I figured I would call Adleman's Truck Parts and see if the had the clevis that connects to the remote control arm for the transmission...
Why is everybody worried about legalities? Are you gonna post this on the 6 o'clock news or something to draw attention to yourself? I surely will not report it as I want a couple of tickets myself. I can't imagine anybody one here reporting anything, I'm know there is always an as*hole among...
I have nothing more to add about the driving differences, the guys above have covered things pretty well, read the manuals, search the forum for information, and you will probably want more than one...I DO!
That being said, Welcome aboard!!!!
They are getting a lot faster with processing them lately, if they don't have any trouble verifying the address with a current phone number you might have it back in about 2 weeks. My first one came back in about 12 days from the time it was submitted.
Download TM5-6115-585-34 from the resources section. Page 7-38 section "F" starts the explanation of installing a pump that has been rebuilt or a brand new pump. It covers two methods of timing, one for known button thicknesses and port closing dimensions. And one doing a flow method.
What dittle was talking about in his first post in this thread was "JB Weld", not actually welding the magnets to the plate. JB Weld is like an epoxy type of glue/adhesive
Doc,
The groceries are all in for the week..... Thanks for the concern though.
The tranny jack is a great Idea (I've already thought about it), but since I don't have a shop big enough yet, I'm doing it out in the gravel parking area.
