Thanks for those kind words. Building a great CUCV has been my dream for the past several years. Career obligations got in the way of finishing it early on, then all these health issues arose. I hope I am able to finish the truck, I guess these next surgeries will determine what happens. Up...
I hear ya. But here is my logic - I am 70 years old. I have had 2 heart attacks. I have had 6 major surgeries. I have 2 artificial hips and 1 artificial knee. I have 2 ruptured vertebrae in my neck which are tearing into my spinal cord as I write this. My surgery for this neck issue is...
I swear, from what I have read, I don’t believe I could take it back to Grampa. If there is a way to stop payment on your credit card, I would do it and inform Gramps that you are. I would then sit down and document everything that happened in chronological order. Give Gramps a copy. But move on...
I think most folk don’t realize that there are four (4) bolts holding the power steering pump in place. If either of these bolts become broken or loose, additional stress is transferred to the other three. There is one bolt on the bottom rear of the pump which attaches to a bracket on the...
Thanks. But I am way ahead. I already have a new bronze valve that I plan to install in the floor between the bucket seats. I prefer to control the switching between tanks by hand instead of relying on an electric part which could malfunction in a remote area. I will have a toggle switch on the...
Tom - look in the -34P TM and find the diagram which shows the bracket. Then look on the next page and get the GM part number. I believe it is the second or third number over from the left column. Then go on EBay and search that part number. There are usually a couple on there from time to time...
Thanks for the offer, however I probably should simply purchase a skid plate from Hillbilly Wizard because he is set-up to ship to me already. I have a few other things I need to get from him anyway.
I just now ordered 2 of the Spectra steel tanks, 2 sets of Spectra straps, and 2 sets of pads from Kentucky Speed Shop. All I need now is a tank skid plate and I will probably reach out to John at Hillbilly for that.
Thanks everyone for your help.
Rick I just knew you were going to catch me on this LOL!
I plan to use the brackets off your tank and will blast & paint them. The tank is just so rusty, it will be easier for me to simply buy a new tank rather than spend the time in sanding and reconditioning your tank. At thus stage in my life...
Yeah I’m leaning towards the MTS plastic tank from Gas Tank Depot. It’s actually polyethylene, a stronger cross-linked high density polymer. And they are Made In The USA. I think I’ll order 2 of ‘em tomorrow and order the brackets and straps for the passenger side from LMC. I’ll document all...
I am wanting to install the auxiliary fuel tank on the passenger side, and after removing the bed from my M1028, I discovered that the original tank on the drivers side is in pretty bad shape. So I have decided to buy 2 new tanks and replace the original at the same time I install the auxiliary...
The P400 pan is not hitting anywhere..... yet. And it may NOT hit. Just looking at it though, it’s going to be real close. I will know for sure once the new engine is hovering over the hole. Even if the P400 does clear the factory crossmember, I may still order one of those ORD units for...
I've watched Ebay for the past couple of years for P400 engines and/or parts. It's like watching for parts for the Space Shuttle - there just is nothing there. Although I cannot confirm, but I have heard that only 400 of the P400 long blocks were released for civilian consumption. My only...
