Another callout for a recommended garage skilled enough to swap a HMMWV powertrain; 6.2L 3L80 to 6.5Turbo 4L80E. I've what looks like a good source for a frame cut complete Turbo powertrain and no-one to install it. The ones I've talked to have declined, politely, so I'm still searching...

Wow, $45 each at Kascar, higher from others. I can definitely make them WAAAAAAAAY cheaper than that, even using quality made fiber reinforced ABS. BDGR

Mine stutters a little too. I'm sure it's repairable, but my compression is low so the real repair is a powertrain swap. I see no reason to rebuild a 6.2 when better are available. Keep us posted! BDGR

Short of a compression test, you can also check the fuel delivery. Have you changed the fuel filters, bled water from the separator, bled the injectors? Smoke means something is affecting combustion, it's only a few things in the end. It is likely compression, but it could be something...
