    Decoding 5-ton vin numbers?

Does anyone know if the 5-ton vin numbers can be decoded like the Great Carnac does for the deuces?

VIN Info-'You may fire when ready, Gridley.'

Oh Great Carnac- Can you do the same vin dis-cypherment for M818 5-ton trucks as you can do for the deuce? Or in other words, what info, if any, can you give for 5-tons?

    Unforseen problem...shor trips

Get a block heater, and plug it in at least an hour or so before you drive off. It helps bring the engine coolant closer to operating temp, therefore it gets warmer quicker.

    Deuce lockout hubs

So how much for the front hubs, and how hard is the install? Anything have to be changed, machined, or worked over? Or is it a simple bolt and go?

Multifuel Engine life - the facts from Uncle Sam

We need to remember also that often the low bidder gets the job, and the engine and truck design had to fullfill alot of roles, so a multi-fuel engine and a multi-purpose truck were just a big compromise to satisfy alot of different needs. It did alot of things pretty good, while not doing any...

    two m35a2

Hey Allen- Why don't you and the trucks with the trailer move out here to SW Idaho, so I would not have to go so far to take advantage of your very good price??!! Every time there is a good deal out there, it is too far away to work out the costs vs shipping vs the old bank acct!

    Anyone looking?

I still keep tossing around the idea of an M818 tractor with a winch that I can put a deuce bed on. Give us the specs, ie: miles, hours, year manufactured, condition, tires, equipment, and price, etc? Or PM me with the info if you don't want to post it here. I (probably) have to sell my deuce if...

Big dude Fit in a m35?

I was feeling bad about being 5-10 and 180lbs and having the steering wheel almost hit me in the gut. I think Atankersdad is right, they were made for skinny 18 year olds. I have seen the seatback out of a Humvee installed and it gave more back room, plus a little side support. But the bigger...

    HP and Torque ???

Pump it up, shorten the life. They were made to go slow and stout, not fast and furious. You can put taller tires (11.00X20) on to get a little more top speed on the flat, but just be real careful about turning up the pump too much, or have some spare engines lying around and the time and...

No More Political Avatars or Signatures or Slamming!!!

Well Chris, since it is your site, you can make any rules you want to and set whatever tone you want the site to have. And the rest of us need to be responsible, mature adults and go with your direction or start our own websites. Since I can barely understand the internet, I guess I better stick...

    Water seperation from WMO

I always wondered about adding alcohol which absorbs water, such as in products like "Heet" which you add to gas to get rid of water in your gas tank. Would the WMO then work for fuel after straining to get out the dirt??

Old WWII trucks in SE Oregon

I went out today and talked with the owner, and he said he is asking about $750 for each of the Dodge trucks. The one with the flatter type hood runs, but he is not sure about the other one, he has never checked the engine. The old Studebaker is a 1945 truck, with a frame that was lengthened for...

VIN Info-'You may fire when ready, Gridley.'

Oh Great Mr Carnac- I checked the number stamped on the frame, and it is 0539-13923 which does not match any of the numbers on the dash tag. The truck has been painted so there are no painted registration numbers that might help. Does this frame number tell us anything??

VIN Info-'You may fire when ready, Gridley.'

Oh Great Carnac- here is what I have on my 1971 Kaiser M35A2 w/w. The NSN is 2327-00-077-1617 and the VIN or serial # is 022514321. The MWO tag reads 92320-200-61 (not sure about the 61) and the date is 05-26-90. Thank you for your help and hard work coming up with all this info for all of us...

M35 Chicago Area to Munising, MI

Out here in the west, such as Oregon and Idaho, you have to chain up over the snow covered passes when the "chains required" sign is lit. But most of the time, unless it is bare pavement, it will be frozen snow, ice or slush, so chains are a must! I would run chains in the front, and one chain...

Old WWII trucks in SE Oregon

I found these two Dodge trucks and one 2-ton Studebaker in SE Oregon that are for sale. The one with the flatter hood is supposed to run. The other one has a very rusy cab and nothing is known of it's motor. The old Studebaker 2-ton truck last hauled sugar beets in 1990, but the Chev engine in...

M818 5-ton tractor for sale in Idaho

A local person here in SW Idaho has this 1969 Kaiser multi-fuel tractor for sale. It shows 4,400 miles on the odomenter, but I cannot find a depot rebuild tag, so am unsure of the real mileage. The motor and undercarriage beneath the motor is really dirty with alot of caked on sludge, old oil...
