    m54 wanted in oregon

Also check with Alex at www.idahomotorpool.com . I think he has two 5-ton M813 cargo trucks right now, one with a winch. He is just across the Snake river from Ontario, Oregon.

    Putting a deuce bed on a M818?

Thanks for posting that thread Recovry4X4! It looks like it can be done allright. Looks sorta like a big deuce on steriods, I think I like it!! Dadnabit, I sure would hate to sell the M35, but can't afford two trucks right now, but a big pumped "deuce" sure would be fun to have!!

    Putting a deuce bed on a M818?

Hey MilitaryResto- I haven't bought one yet, I would have to sell the M35, and gather up more $$$ to do such a project. Just starting to mull it over in the old noggin right now.

    Putting a deuce bed on a M818?

I have not taken any measurements to see if a M35 2.5 ton deuce bed would be sized right to put on a 5-ton M818 semi-truck. But- there seems to be quite a few of them coming on the market right now (Idaho Motor Pool just got 10 of 'em!) and with thier shorter wheelbase then a standard M813 5-ton...

Thinking of taking the M35 plunge

Alex at Idaho Motor Pool can fix you up with a pretty nifty H.O. under-the-seat heater, plus your choice of a deuce to go with it. I have a place in SW Idaho about 14 miles away from his place of business, so I enjoy stopping in there and looking the trucks and spare parts over. I got my truck...

    Good or bad idea...

Goodness, gracious- with all the hot air we have expended on this thread, the poor guy could have filled a big hot air ballon and floated his truck home! Oh well, it has made for some interesting reading.

Change short coolant hoses on top of engine- advice needed

Got the job done today, used the black RTV silicone to insure a good seal on top of the used small paper gaskets that were stuck to the head. Also used the same silicone sealer to put on the threads of the bolts that go into the water jacket of the head, whatever the military uses to seal those...

    Torque Roads fore the M-35

You might check with Alex at: www.idahomotorpool.com for spare parts, he keeps about 40 deuces, 5-tons, an occassional tank or two, plus many other vehicles in stock. And he has LOTS of spare parts, he is a good guy to know!

    Gasser lifting shackles

    tech manaul

Go to www.idahomotorpool.com and I think you can download for free the manuals for the deuce, it's a big download, but there is every system for a deuce, so you can put it all on a CD and have it for reference for all the other systems also.

    12v- 24v question

For low draw 12 volt items, you can hook up to the center cable that ties your two batteries together in series. Check it with a volt meter, you will get a 12 volt reading. Then you are drawing from both batteries. At least that is what Alex at Idaho Motor Pool tells me, and there is not much...

    Cold starting

Do you give it a little fuel when you are starting it cold? I give mine just a little fuel, when it is cold and if I don't give it a little fuel via the foot throttle, it will sometimes fire, run for a second or and die, and then I have to hit the starter again, maby twice. But if I give it a...

    Value of Truck (M35A2)

I'll have to second the idea of buying one from Alex at Idaho Motor Pool if you are reasonably close to SW Idaho. I bought my truck from him. You can drive his trucks away and know there are no issues that will leave you by the side of the road. He does have quite a few trucks right now that are...

    Good or bad idea...

If you are determined to do it, you better get some long 2X12's and double them up on each side, long enough so that the front wheels are resting on the front end, and the rear tires are on solid wood on the back. 14-footers should do it. Post pictures if you make in home ok. And be sure and...

Change short coolant hoses on top of engine- advice needed

Hey WillWagner- I wish I had read your post before I went out and spent $56 for hoses from Shuck's Auto Parts that I will have to cut and make to fit. I had the clerk from the deep dark recesses from who knows where waiting on me, he took almost 1/2 an hour to figure out I needed 1.75-inch and...

    Value of Truck (M35A2)

Hey Smithrf- that does not sound like a bad price for the truck you are looking at! How many miles and engine hours are showing? Try and see if the winch is operational. Out here in the west, a winch is worth $1,000 minimum extra on a truck. A hard top is about $400, a good heater is $250. And...

    Value of Truck (M35A2)

I agree with all of the above, the transmission issues scare me, $4,000 seems much better! Keep looking, even on EbayMotors there are trucks coming up all the time that might be a better deal.

Change short coolant hoses on top of engine- advice needed

Advice Needed- I have a minor leak of coolant coming from the two short connector hoses on the top of the engine. To replace these, it appears that a person needs to remove the small coolant "manifolds" that sit flat on the top of the head, to be able to slip the hoses and clamps on. Can I...

    Might need help in albuquerque

RE: Re: RE: Might need help in albuquerque It's already been said, but I bet the mechanic did not put the driveline back in indexed correctly as it came out, so it could be giving you fits because of that. You might try rotating the drive line 90 degrees and see if that makes a difference.

    Idaho Motor Pool

Just bought my first M35 from Alex last Friday. Have been looking forward to having one for years, finally decided to do it, a '72 Kaiser with winch, soft top, no heater yet, spring driver's seat, very low miles and engine hours. I will paint it, and probably add the underseat heater. Lots of my...
