Rich - I had to think a few minutes before posting. I certainly don’t want to play Dr Doom, but if that passenger side head was installed and torqued properly, and I feel that it probably was, then there may be a larger issue. In my 50 years of working on engines, I have never heard of a head...
What do you think about getting some hard brass fittings and pipe from Ace Hardware to extend the valley port rearward to terminate at the back of the valley? That’s what I used on the front turbo port of my P400 to pressurize the Spinner centrifugal oil filter.
I'm planning on keeping my OEM idiot lights intact, and also add Autometer 2-5/8" mechanical gauges in a custom mount which replaces the ashtray. I will retain the OEM sending units for the idiot lights, but the mechanical gauges hook into the systems they will monitor. Or in other words, the...
Rich; The black wire in my M1028 goes to the middle stud on the bottom bar. See photo. Regarding the 6.5 oil pressure sending unit, are you talking about the unit in the engine valley under the intake manifold? If so, that is a safety pressure switch which shuts down injection pump/engine if...
Is that low coolant circuit (idiot light) really necessary if a cab water temperature gauge is installed? Like yourself I plan on multiple radios in the future and would like to eliminate all RF noise.
Thanks for the discovery.
Guys, please excuse me for being so dumb, but what is wrong with sourcing a Level 2 K-case 700R4 from Bowtie Overdrives for $1650.00? This unit is rated to handle 450 HP and 450 FPT. It is the exact unit that I have bolted behind my P400 engine going into my M1028...
Yeah that black RTV has it stuck. Try a thin putty knife to get it started. I believe once it starts coming loose it will be easy from then on. I wouldn't put heat on it.
Hope this helps.
I purchased a Level 2 K-case 700R4 with special output shaft from Bowtie for just under $2500 including crating and freight from California to Kentucky. Is this more than you want to spend?
I’ve often wondered how much horsepower is required for a fully engaged fan clutch. I’m certain engine horsepower is lost during full clutch engagement because the “pull” on the engine can be felt when the clutch engages, especially going uphill. I’m toying around with leaving off the entire fan...
Yes I would like to see photos and have more information as well. I have always thought that by removing the fan/fan clutch, and replacing it with remote fans restores horsepower.
Yes just a little. I've been extremely busy the past few months helping manage my wife's company, but have almost completed the mock-up of the custom aluminum bracket to hold the Spinner oil filter. I had to draw the bracket to scale and then custom bend 3/16" 6061 aluminum to fit. I used a...
