Got the P400 on the engine stand. The engine is all metric. The threads on rear transmission face are M10-1.5. Anybody planning on doing this should be careful, because a 3/8-16 will appear to fit and screw into the M10 holes about a half-inch, but then will become thread-bound trying to...
Hey Recovery - I'm spending my daughter's inheritance, so the cost of things is really irrelevent in the big picture. You will be there someday and understand what I am talking about. Life is not a dress rehersal - we are going through it only once. My wife and I have been blessed to have had...
Got the P400 mounted on the engine stand. The engine is all-metric. The threads on the transmission face are M10-1.5. Anybody planning to do this should be careful, as a 3/8-16 thread will actually screw into the holes for about 3/8", but then become thread-bound trying to screw further into...
I think so. I’m mounting a DB2 mechanical pump on a new 6.5 long block and using new 6.5 short injectors. Just need to confirm that my old 6.2 lines will mate to the 6.5 injectors.
Hello - I am preparing to replace my original 6.2 with a new 6.5 long block. I plan to retain the mechanical DB2 injection pump, but will install new 6.5 injectors. Question - will my original 6.2 injection lines bolt up to the 6.5 injectors? Are there any differences between the 6.2 and 6.5...
A few days ago I posted photos of my new P400 engine in my rebuild thread. Then yesterday and today I received emails asking about when the engine would arrive, so I couldn't figure out what was going on. Then I remembered that my rebuild thread was recently moved by a moderator from this CUCV...
Well folks, after 2 back surgeries, 2 hip replacements, 1 knee replacement, and a mild heart attack, the process is finally beginning.
I purchased a brand new GEP P400 long block from Leroy at http://leroydiesel.com/ . This was my first encounter with Leroy and will have to say that he is a...
Mechanical or electronic? Probably several dozen sources across the nation which offers rebuild services. I needed a mechanical unit for my P400 install in my M1028. I shopped the hail out of it and spent considerable time on other forums and on the phone with a few of the more well known...
Trail Worthy’s insert has some material removed and a hole drilled to accommodate the valve stem nut and to allow the air to equalize on both sides of the insert. So after you install the insert into the tire and you are ready to drop the tire and insert over the inner part of the wheel, you...
They are readily available from Trail Worthy Fab. I’m running them in my 12-bolts and they are perfect. Easy to install and already chamfered and prepped for the air valve.
I know this may sound crazy, but has anybody tried to retrofit round HMMWV headlights into a CUCV? I’ve often thought about it. It would require fabricating new flat steel bezels to accommodate the HMMWV buckets, but I believe it could be done. Just a thought.
OK sport. Do as you wish. I was only trying to help. Your example provided above indicates a 2500 RPM on a 406 GAS engine. Our original 6.2 diesels feel the best around 2000-2200 RPM. Around 2800 is pushing the limits of the engine design. I will respectfully end my participation in this thread...
LT - increasing tire diameter from 35 to 37 is not going to provide the increased highway speed you desire. I am currently runing 37” BFG’s on my M1028 with TH400 and 4.56 and am fearful to get over 50 mph due to excessive engine RPMs.
Regarding the the thought of changing axle ratios, I would...
Hey Tom - I believe it’s against the forum rules to post a link to an active auction. You might want to remove that link before you are caught, tried, convicted, and sentenced. The site administrators are notorious for sending violators to Guantanamo. Just trying to help.
Hey Glock - I strongly recommend that you rebuild those front axle ends while your tools are nice and greasy. My M1028 had Death Wobble Cum Laude until I rebuilt everything in the front and installed crossover steering. New front axle u-joints, inner and outer bearings and seals, king pins...
Yes I am back and ready to go. The new P400 engine has been shipped from AM General and should arrive here in a few days. Yesterday I received a NOS open plane intake from gimpyrob and the new high flow water pump is on its way from FlowKooler. Last week I received a completely rebuilt 200 hp...
