I’m going through this now. The V-belt engines use a clockwise rotation pump and the serpentine belt engines use a counter clockwise rotation pump. The backing plates for each type pump are unique so you must use the specific plate for the specific pump. Not sure of the part numbers, maybe...
Thanks Ken for that great piece of knowledge. I need to buy a 6.2 V-belt backing plate, because I want to leave my original 6.2 engine intact to enhance its resale value. So if anybody has an original 6.2 V-belt backing plate laying around, pm me and I will see if I can scrape up the dough.
Done some more investigating and a lot of reading on this today and concluded that I will need to use a 6.2 water pump backing plate in order to bolt up the 6.2 CW rotation water pump. Now all I need to do is confirm that the 6.2 backing plate will bolt up to the 6.5 timing cover housing...
Here's a new one for you. As many of you know, I have a new P400 6.5 long block on the way to install into my M1028. Because I want to maintain the original 12/24 volt CUCV alternator system, I plan to move my original CUCV alternators, brackets, and PS pump over to the new 6.5 from the 6.2...
Well for the past hour or so I have been trying to search on this forum regarding cruise control for my M1028. I have searched "cruise" and got 1 gazillion threads containing that word, mainly to "cruise" at highway speeds. Then I searched "control" and got another 1 gazillion threads...
Yeah when I got ready to swap my rag joint for a universal, I considered the XJ conversion. But there was just something inside me that would not let me install anything from a Jeep on my M1028. The Flaming River joint installed easy and perfectly, and to this day my steering is tight and...
Yes I knew that. Thanks for posting. But to replace the entire bed side panel is a much bigger project. And from my experience the body panels from LMC are not the same quality as original GM steel. I would rather keep my original CUCV bed, which is still in new condition, intact and have my...
This may have been discussed previously but I couldn't find any relative threads.
I am exploring the possibility of adding the factory fuel tank to the passenger side of the frame of my M1028, but am perplexed regarding a source for the factory fuel door assembly. Can the M1009 fuel door...
This is what I did when I installed HMMWV seats in my M1028. I used new HMMWV seatbelts. I suppose the rigid cable on the female end could be routed up through the openings in a factory seat.
I just bought a new HMMWV thermostat and switch on EBay. The thermostat was PN 14077122, NSN 6620-01-146-8006. The switch was PN 12338599, NSN 5930-01-237-7322.
Hope this helps.
After reading this it is pretty obvious that his thermostatic switch in the coolant crossover needs replacing. I need a new one as well. And idea where we both can find a new switch?
Ken, which aluminum radiator did you use? Does it have the oil cooler on the drivers side and transmission cooler on the passenger side? Did all the hoses hook up ok?
Hold on a minute hahnmgh63. I can't sit quietly on this one. If a 700R4 is built properly, it will handle any amount of power the 6.5 can dish out. I purchased a Level 2 K-case 700R4 from Bowtie Overdrives rated at 450HP and 450 FPT. Just now getting ready to install it in my M1028 in place...
