Thanks everyone. And Thanks Kaiser. After snooping around a bit, I feel much more comfortable with Leroy than with Bostic. I plan to reach out to him on Tuesday regarding a new drop-in long block for my M1028.
And to answer your question, I am 67 years old and spending my daughter's...
I've been talking with Jeff at Bostic Motors about purchasing one of their GEP 6.5 engines to replace my stock 6.2, and he is wanting to also sell me new Bosch 6.5 injectors to go along with it ($650), as well as a new set of special injector lines to mate my factory 6.2 injection pump to the...
Alpine, please keep us updated with your progress with photos if possible. I'm planning on installing a Bowtie 700R4 in my M1028 and would like to keep my temps down as well. Your idea of an aux cooler with a thermostatic valve is Brilliant, Brilliant!
During the complete restoration of my M1028, everything in the front end that could be replaced and rebuilt was replaced and rebuilt. New ORD springs, bushings and bolts; new axle U-bolts; new inner and outer wheel bearings; new upper and lower king post bushings; new front axle knuckle...
After back surgery, there was just no way I could get comfortable in that factory bench seat. I seriously considered selling the truck because of the seat issue, but then I sobered up I came to my senses. No way I am selling my truck, sober or drunk. Don't even ask.
First thing was to buy...
Yeah I bought a kit from LMC when I was restoring my M1028. I was not happy with anything about the stuff. After suffering with it a while, I decided to ditch the whole bench seat and install high back HMMWV seats. Now I am looking for somebody to sew custom canvas seat covers with seat and...
C'mon man.
If built correctly, the 700R4 will handle as much as a TH400. I purchased a Level 2 K-case 700R4 from Bowtie Overdrives rated at 450 HP and 400 FPT. $1650.00. Added the special output shaft to mate with my NP208. The length of the 700R4 is the same as the TH400 so no crossmember...
"I’m sure you know that there are other seat accessory manufacturers out there. You can even spec out what you want."
Hey Mister Tinstar - Do you think any of those other manufacturers would consider sewing hidden pockets on the inside to hold heating elements? I don't mind paying for a...
Hey Joe, just so you will know, I plan to have my own covers sewn so they will be designed/produced the way I want/need them. I have had 2 major back surgeries and both hips replaced, and the cold just kills me, so I want pockets sewn on the inside of the seat and back panels to hold heated...
Davy, heck it ain't gone nowhere. That $2500 Bowtie 700R4 is still sitting on it's pallet in my shop. I turn 67 years old tomorrow and it seems the older I get, the dang busier I get. For the past year I've been helping my wife relocate her business to a bigger facility and as a result, there...
I'm too cheap to buy a block heater. I simply keep my M1028 in a heated 8,000 square foot garage with the thermostat set at 72 degrees. It was minus 8 here this morning and my baby fired right up like it was the 4th of July.
Ummm.... any reason why you wouldn't want to replace that broken grille with another authentic CUCV grille? Have you searched on Ebay or reached out to other SS members? An original CUCV grille will be, in my opinion, a thousand times better than that cheap Chinese part from LMC. However...
Kelly - Thanks for the kind words. Been working on my truck for 7 years and still have a lot I want to do. To answer your question regarding the driveshafts - I had new longer shafts built and balanced. The shackle flip and Zero Rates result in a 5" lift, and that caused the rear shaft to be...
I installed ORD's shackle flip, Zero Rates, and U-bolt Reveral on my M1028 with no problem at all. Pinion angle works fine with no vibration whatsoever. I photo-documented the process in my rebuild thread. Only issue I encountered was the passenger side shock mount. The shackle flip rotated...
Rich;
Several months ago I found a NOS flex plate on Ebay and bought that sucker. I'd be willing to bet there's another one on there right now. The GM number is 14077158. It should have 6 - M10 bolts, 139 teeth.
Hope this helps.
I add 8oz of Stanadyne Performance Formula at every tank fill up. It reduces fuel freeze and cleans/lubricates the entire fuel system. It inhibits internal corrosion and improves cetane. Why use anything else?
