I suggest a set of 0.020 rings. You can try them and file the end gaps to suit. If they are way too large, sell them to someone. Not a large investment.

Just my opinion, the manual is old. I doubt if anyone would take offense. I have several old manuals i wouldn't throw out - I'm sure my children will when I pass.

You can cap them off using rubber vacuum caps from the parts store. They circulate air in the sealed military distributor.

You will be fine. You are not running mogas. Make sure the water distribution tube is in good condition - it's an important part for long service.

Good thought re: fuel pump diaphram. Don't remember if the military pump has a vent hole in the pump that will weep fuel if you have a ruptured diaphragm. My thought is that the truck needs to get run with the hand throttle set to run some above idle until normal operating temperature - maybe an...
