The bearing is probably a generic bearing. If you can find an SKF or Timken catalog, you may be able to match it by description. (I've had to do this in the past on an old vehicle with no available service parts. It can take a bit of time, but I was able to find all of the bearings and seals.)
Check your grounds at the lights. I saw similar behavior when the grounds were bad on my vehicle.. (I had to clean them all.)
If that doesn't resolve it, there are some trouble shooting steps in the TM that might help you, it's possible it's the blinker box.
Standard military configuration is 2-piece rims + the beadlock/runflat insert, most military HMMWVs do not have CTIS.
Personally I don't want the weight and balance issues of the runflat (and I don't offroad where I'm expecting to have problems that would need a runflat), so I just use a PVC...
Don't remember what brand I bought, but I got the smallest bucket I could. I'm pretty sure it'll last the rest of my life!
But this was the first time I'd ever mounted my own tires, and I consider it a success in my case. Even though it did take many many hours to do all 4 tires.
Not sure this adds any actual value to the thread, but this was one of mine halfway through the process. You can see the washers and standard nuts at this point, along with the tire soap on the edge of the tire, and the green slime bottle upper right.
I was just about to air up the tire and...
Where the electrical wire hooks to the glow plug. Pick one.. you want to have a meter ready to check the voltage on it when you first hook up the battery, when you first put it to run (wait to start) and after it starts..
It should be 0V (disconnected?) when the vehicle is off. Should be 20+V...
Straighten them out by hand (gently). You might want to set them in the sun for a few minutes...
Then use some 'green slime' (tire fix-a-flat).. put a SMALL amount in the grove, set the o-ring into the grove.. if it isn't holding, add a SMALL amount on top.. between the o-ring, the grove and...
I recommend the tool from Leroy Diesel.. looks like it's now about $65..
But with the counterfit plugs on mine, I ended up having to get the OTC one. Bought from amazon - "OTC 6005A Glow Plug Remover Tool Set".
If you do go down the path of glow plug replacement. Remember only buy from trusted sources, stay away from the ebay glow plugs. If the glow plug head is metric it is COUNTERFIT and will FAIL quickly! 3/8" hex, it's probably authentic.
You may also want to look at one of the detroit deisel...
I've come to the point where I just have a container of the packard connectors. As I do things on the HMMWV. If those old connector is damaged in ANY WAY, I remove the old one and install a new one. The amount of cracked or broken boots.. or connectors missing the little ring on my rig was...
When I did my brakes, I took them off the lines and did them on a bench.. (of course silicon brake fluid all over from them being compressed) and needing to definitely bleed them back out... But doing it on the truck was nearly impossible with the hard lines on my M998.
I used the one that...
Just an FYI, the inner seal, based on https://www.wbparts.com/rfq/5330-01-412-4447.html is an SKF 22532. I was having issues finding them Timken seal mentioned earlier in the post, but the SKF seal was readily available on RockAuto and a few other places online. (RockAuto was the cheapest, $25...
I repainted my HMMWV with Rapco rattle cans.. came out great, and easy to touch up. I plan to do the same with the M1101, however rapco's website seems to be horrible broken right now.
It took about 14 or so cans (of various colors) to do the HMMWV outside and cargo bed.
Stock 200 AMP Generator uses the outer 3 V-Belts. If I was going to share a belt, it would be the 1st power steering belt (if possible).
You really want to drive the generator with 3 full belts.
As for routing, the outer 3 belts are all water pump, hydraulic pump and generator. I'd be...
I source most of my replacement parts from MacMotors or KASCAR (real4wd). I've not bought replacement lines though. A few of the 'bulk' parts, I was able to search the part info from the service manual and find the original hoses in bulk and buy them that way. (Usually Amazon, Rock Auto or...
I just stumbled on this, https://www.psmagazine.army.mil/News/Article/3056573/hmmwv-new-winter-tire-assembly/ , says that military has now approved the KO2 tires. But I don't see any in the standard 37x12.50R16.5LT size. The article sounds like it's sent as an assembly, which makes me wonder...
I did the rear brakes on my M998, and it was only a single tool to reset the calipers.
I bought the kit: https://modmafia.com/product/brake-pad-replacement-tool-set/
(The T-bar snap-on wrench in the kit is well worth the money! Almost impossible to get another type of tool to the bolts...
Thanks, i didn't even know there was a TM Upload section.
Unfortunately I tried to upload it, and it said the file was too large for the server to process.
The TM is 44.6MB.
Any suggestions?
I found a newer copy of the TM 9-2330-392-13 & 14 then what is currently available in the TM section. Date is 07-Dec-2012. It is labeled as "DISTRIBUTION STATEMENT A - Approved for public release, distribution is unlimited."
Assuming admins/moderators want me to, I can attach it to this post...
