Don't know anything about the Atlanta area. But I found a diesel mechanic that knew Detroit Diesel and more commerical vehicles. Talked with them and got it scheduled that way. You may need to call around to find someone willing to work on a military vehicle, as well as mechanically injected...
I'm new to heavy trailers, and military trailers. I recently got an M1101, and I'm slowly trying to understand all of the safety features and make sure everything is working as expected.
It's a 2010 Silver Eagle M1101.
How difficult should it be to pull the breakaway brake cable and activate...
I found some recent photos from a GovPlanet auction that seems to have everything I'll need to paint my trailer properly.
Does anyone have any idea how many of the Rapco cans this may take? (Black/Green/Brown), otherwise I'll gave to take a guess based on the HMMWV's needs. (This SHOULD be less.)
I've got the TB-43-0209 with a date of 31 Oct 1990. I've used it to layout the paint for my M998. I recently got an M1101 trailer, but I don't see that in the document.
Is there an existing tailer in the document I should use as a reference, or is there an M1101 specific camo pattern...
Just an FYI, called my local tire place today to try to get two more Goodyear 37” MT D rated. They called Goodyear and the are “unavailable with no planned production.” So basically unavailable directly again.
Driving yesterday I got caught in a rain storm, no big deal got a little wet. But I had to pull over due to the fogging on the inside of the glass. The fan, on high, didn't have enough airflow to keep the window clear.. (ended up clearing the window with my hand until I got somewhere I could...
Yup, I have a stack of receipts, probably spent as much on parts and repairs as I did the HMMWV at this point.
I JUST ordered a bunch of parts on Wednesday as well. So this is going into the pile for "next order". Whenever that will be.
When I got my HMMWV a couple years ago. Previous owner had just installed NOS tires. They were all 9-12 years old and looked brand new. After a year and a half of driving, ALL of them had cracked sidewalls. (I was running everything around 30 PSI.)
I ended up ordering a set of brand new...
I am using the original style stop-run-start switch and a Digital Guard Dawg M-24. It's a bit pricey, but so far, absolutely no complaints. The previous key switch I had failed after about 6 months of use. The "real" switch and the DGD is going on about 2 years installed, but about a 15...
I found what I think is the spring in the parts volume, Figure 154, part #9.
SPRING, HELICAL, EXTE. serial 44825 and above (which mine is).
What I don't see though is where it actually goes. (I guess I'll crawl back out there and attempt to figure it out.)
I was under the HMMWV today working on the shifter assembly. While I was there I noticed there was just a random spring hanging from the parking brake handle area!
Anyone know what this is and where it goes?
Seems decent. But expect $10k in parts and repairs on it. Seriously, small line leaks can be a symptom of other parts being worn out.
if you can handle that, go for it!
You do not need to do anything to the clutch or fan to replace that hose. reach in with a wrench and remove the hose from the clutch.. now hope your arms are long enough and you are small enough and reach all the way in and remove the other end of the hose from the fitting through the plastic...
Could be a failing hose or fitting.. I've zip tied blue shop towels to the hoses before (to make sure they didn't get in the belts and such) on compact utility tractors, gone for a drive (or let it sit)... then come back and removed the towels one by one to find the hole in the hose, or which...
everything is 24V as far as I know. I haven't specifically replaced the light bulbs on my dash, but everything I've done a voltage meter to was been 24V. (1988 M998)
Finally an update to share. Over the past month, they got everything put back together, fluids changed and they drove it for a couple of days. Other then a 'clunk' when backing up (that I THINK are the brakes?), they said it sounds good and didn't hear anything unexpected. (They're just a...
This is exactly what I did when I mounted my tiers on the rims. 100x easier (I actually used thick washers and regular nuts, but same concept). Then all I was fighting installing the flanged lock nuts was the distorted threads and not the clamping force on the wheels.
And if not clear...
Check the plug, but absolutely do NOT buy them from ebay. MacMotors, KASCAR/Real4WD or another reputable vendor. If they require a 10mm socket to install (or remove) they are COUNTERFIT and will fail quickly. 3/8" is the correct size of them!
Counterfit ones fail quickly, and tend to shed...
