An update - while I am waiting on the time and opportunity to install my new 700R4, I decided to go ahead and install the full-length floor mat from Auto Custom Carpets. This thing was a cinch to install. Simply removed my custom HMMWV seats, cleaned the cab floor, and laid her in. It is...
I took the bench seat out of my M1028 and installed high-back HMMWV seats on custom steel frames. The whole process is documented towards the end of my rebuild thread. I have had 2 major back surgeries and the bench seat was killing me. I drove my truck over a hundred miles yesterday and was...

I just bought one for my 700R4 swap.
Hope this helps.
If I was going to do serious off-roading I would consider the Atlas case. However my truck will never see dirt much less mud and the 208 is certainly capable of hauling groceries. My truck sat on a NG base in Arizona for 25 years and only had 12,338 miles when I got it. All fluids looked new...
Thanks Gimp. I have the confidence to forge ahead, just don't have the extra time right now. I am helping my wife build a new facility for her business and because she controls 95% of the money and 100% of the sex, I must do as she so instructs.
Regarding the entire transmission swap...
Yeah right!
Here are a couple photos of the Bowtie 700R4 after I got it uncrated. The second photo shows the Advance Adapters 32-spline output shaft to properly mate with my NP208.
Here you go. John's winter fronts are outstanding quality. I can't imagine why you would want to try to make one yourself when his are readily available and worth every penny.
I used Cadillac El Dorado calipers with emergency brakes on the rear. Stops on a dime going forward or backward even when wet. I threw my sway bar away to clear the crossover steering. Never had any problem.
Why not use a set of ORD's 1" Zero Rates with a simple body lift? This would be relatively fast, easy, and inexpensive, and circumvent the higher cost and effort for suspension work.
Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps.
Guys (and gals), I need to ask for opinions and help again. I have all parts required to make the 700R4 swap, but now I simply cannot find a transmission shop I can get comfortable with. So, I am seriously considering doing the work myself. But here's the rub - I have never swapped a...
I am using CentroMatic balancers between each wheel and hub and my ride is smooth as silk. The advantage of the Centro's is you can swap them from vehicle-to-vehicle if necessary. I ran the ceramic beads in my 11.00/20's and experienced a rough ride getting up to speed and then coming back...
Probably more than most folks will want to spend. For me however, cost is not important because I am spending my daughter's inheritance. After having multiple surgeries and a heart attack which almost got me, my goal in life is now to expend all my wealth to fund the items on my bucket list...
