I spoke with a fellow named Ivan Snyder at Fluidampr when I purchased my unit. 716-592-1001. He told me the correct model number for our trucks is "800191, 8" FLUIDAMPR for 1982 - 1987 6.2L GM Diesel".
Hope this helps.
That thingy on the tie rod is the steering damper. The stabilizer is the big bent bar that runs from one spring over to the other spring and is attached to the frame under the radiator. This will interfere with the cross-over steering rod.
I have not installed the steering brace because I...
I truly believe the harmonic balancer is one of the most important parts pertaining to an engine's lifespan, and the most overlooked when considering what to replace/rebuild. I would venture a guess that a majority of young folk don't even know what it is, much less what it does. The fact is...
Ok I'll jump in here and add a few comments. Gotta pay attention and make sure I capitalize correctly.
I suggest you re-think adding larger tires with just fender trimming alone. While that may look cool cruising through Sonic on Saturday evening, it will get you in trouble when you get into...
My 11.00/20 NDT's mounted on custom Firestone split rims weigh over 150 pounds apiece. To balance these things I used 16 ounces of Dyna Beads in each tire and they run smooth as silk. Granted, on cold mornings the nylon bias tires have a flat spot for a half-mile or so, but then they even out...
Hal; The alignment pin must fit into the hole and it can only go one way and the bolt holes line up. When you get this mated together properly finger-tighten a bolt through the pump housing to the block to hold it in place. Then insert the interior bolt through the oil fill hole and snug it...
Hello everyone. I am thinking about obtaining a genset for emergency power for my home during outages (probably what everybody wants). I am completely dumb regarding the different models and outputs, and was wondering if there is a list somewhere that shows the different specs of each model...
My 1984 Arizona National Guard M1028 has only 12,945 miles and the 30-year-old alternators have never been rebuilt. Those of you who have followed my rebuild thread know that, since 2010, I have rebuilt or restored just about everything on my truck and have only driven it approximately 600...
I could be mistaken, but I don't see any way to replace the shaft and seals without removing the pump. You would have to remove the intake anyway to gain access, and with the intake off, you might as well go ahead and pull the pump and send it out for rebuild. I had my M1028 pump rebuilt last...
Hey truck1 - when this thread popped back up today I got to looking at your installation photos again and noticed something. I understand you and I used the same TSM kit, however your calipers are positioned differently than mine. My calipers are positioned on the upper quadrant of the rotor...
Seeing your truck apart brings back memories of my M1028 rebuild. My project started as a simple hood replacement but quickly spiraled out of control into a complete frame-up rebuild and restoration over a 3-year period. Let me know if I can provide any armchair assistance.
Git 'er done.
