    Accelerator Cable Bushing

Anyone know a source for the rubber grommet and plactic bushing that fits on the accelerator cable at the injection pump?

where is the vacuum pump supposed to be, and will the pump for a k30 work in a d30?

I believe yall are talking about two different parts. 14057219 fits on the side of the injection pump. Paraclete may be rerring to the vacuum valve that fits on the side of the transmission.

    Correct fuel pump

Well I got it sorted out. I purchased the pump from Summit Racing. I called their Customer Service line late today and spoke with Sara and explained my issue. She was extremely nice and asked me to send her the photos via email, which I did while we were on the phone. I also sent her the...

    Correct fuel pump

I have searched and searched but to no avail. I purchased a new mechanical fuel pump for my M1028, however I must have got the wrong one. My GM book indicates the correct replacement pump should be AC Delco 43-254, however there is a a difference in the inlet tube which will not let this pump...

cHucv Soup: The animal to be

"At this point I am leaning toward the turbo, 3.73 gears, and Th400. If she is well monitored and well maintained do you think the 6.2 will be long lived? Conservatively tuned of coarse" OD - sure, if you drive conservatively and don't try to drag race the corvettes, your rig should last a...

cHucv Soup: The animal to be

OD, no it is not my assertion that a moderately tuned 6.2 turbo is doomed to an early demise, as there are a substantial quantity of these units running the roads today and providing good service. The point I was trying to make was, GM did not design this engine to be turbo'd. And based on...

cHucv Soup: The animal to be

Been watching this thread closely. Respectfully, I must say it kinda reminds me of that old "Dallas" TV series with all the mind games. I decided to chime in because I don't believe the J-code 6.2 will support a turned-up turbo for very long. The cast crank and bottom-end structure wasn't...

truck pulls to right when braking

I wouldn't rule out an issue with the rear brakes. Those big drums must be syncronized or you will experience drifting while braking. If the rear proportioning valve is not set properly, excessive brake fluid will be sent to the rear brakes thereby making them the dominate braking force...

M1008 VS M1028 for Fuel Ecconomy?

TIRES. Tires make a big difference in fuel economy. Tall skinny tires (my preference) have less rolling resistance than wide fat tires. I haven't had my truck out of the shop long enough to check mileage (rebuilding the IP now) but will check it after I get my speedometer calibrated.

    Lengthening front driveshaft M1008

I raised my M1028 exactly as you did, with 4" front springs and Zero-Rates with the front axle moved forward 1 inch. I can guarantee you that you will need a longer front shaft. I got mine from Tom Woods Custom Drive Shafts in Ogden, UT Tom Wood's Custom Drive Shafts - Tom Woods Custom...

    Interstate Driving Etiquette

Well I might as well jump in here and offer my 2 cents. What WARWAG said about the crankshafts in post #38 is true. Also, the harmonic balancer is critical to reducing bearing fatigue at high rpm's. If you are going to cruise along and enjoy the ride, you probably need to travel over there...

    Glass went boom

I believe I may have an original door glass left over from my M1028 rebuild. You are welcome to it if you want it.

Hmmmm.... Have you inspected your harmonic balancer?

    How to Mount Civilian Batteries

I changed my front tray to a civi tray to provide room for the grille duct to the filter. Then I simply centered a civi battery on the rear tray and tightened the hold-down. Worked like a champ.

Nice scare on the freeway...now what happened?

Instead of expending the effort and costs to change axle ratios, why not simply increase tire diameter? This would be a fast easy solution to faster highway speeds which could be reversed if desired. As you can probably imagine, I am a big fan of tall tires. Just my 2 cents.

    Steering issues with m1008

Check to make sure your u-bolts are tight, as well as the spring hanger bushings. Especially check the shackle connections at the frame. If any of these connections are loose, it would cause your issue. Hope this helps.

moving axle forward with stock steering

Once you experience crossover steering, especially in a lifted truck, you will come to recognize and appreciate the improved steering geometry. My M1028 will turn tighter than my friends new Blazer. I can park it at Wal-Mart without backing up and "getting straight". Hope this helps.
