    WTK Fan Shroud fitting

The hose in the picture appears to be for a non-QD type fan clutch, so you might either need to buy an adapter from the tapered seal to a pipe thread in order to install a QD fitting on it, or buy the correct hose with correct fittings. The diagram a couple posts above shows a hose with...

    Heavy white smoke cold start

Have you tested voltage at the glow plug connectors to see if they are actually receiving power? I read through quickly and didn't see if you had verified voltage at the plugs yet. Honestly, my truck has maybe 3 or 4 working glow plugs and does massive amounts of smoke. Sounds a little rough...

    Buying an m1102

It is better to have the tires inflated to 30+psi. Higher pressure tires have less sidewall flex, and therefore less heat produced, and less likely to have failure due to heat. Underinflated tires, even in good condition, are much higher risk of failing; just ask Ford.

    WTK Fan Shroud fitting

That is the bulkhead fitting and line that go from the cadillac valve on the area in front of the driver's station, to the fan clutch. Older versions went direct to the fan clutch and were a royal pain to disconnect, which had to be done to change the V belts. Newer versions have the quick...

WTK Thread and bolt size for front shackle

You would be amazed at how much detail the parts manual goes into for things like bolt size and thread pitch and whatnot.

    M1102 Trailer Value?

The one in the picture a few posts up looks home made. XM381 is the company that makes some of the trailer converters for the military. Maybe a bit over priced, but they look decent and work how they are supposed to. Converters from pretty much any civi vehicle to military trailer, and any...

    genset loadbanks

Water heater elements typically only have the element portion in the water, so SAFELY mounting them into something like a 55 gallon barrel or bucket of water is extremely important. Exposed electrical connections for one, especially if you are mounting them vertically down into the top of the...

    Need Help with Popping Noise!!

If changing from H to HL eliminated the sound, then I'd say there is a decent chance it is inside the transfer case. HL locks the transfer case outputs so they spin together, instead of having the differential type action.

    Need Help with Popping Noise!!

Noises that only show up when turning and moving forward/backwards are commonly in the front CV joints.

Best gear setup to get out of the deep mud: H.... HL...... D.... 2.... 1......

I believe you mean BTM: Brake Throttle Modulation. Have the transfer case in either HL or L Gently apply the brakes, just enough that the truck doesn't move at idle in any drive position of the shifter. Apply the throttle enough to overcome the resistance of the brakes. This causes stress in...

    Single 24v battery?

I believe that some helicopters use 24V batteries the same size as 6T, or something similar. I remember someone talking about snagging one from their flight maintenance unit after it aged out or something like that. Perfectly good still, but in a multi million dollar helicopter you don't take...

    Glow plugs roasted

It is NOT a voltage regulator issue. Completely separate system. Usually a smart box issue. GPC just tells the smart box if the engine is warm enough to need glow plugs or not, but doesn't have any direct control over them.

    Wrong 24v to 12v Converter?

If more than 70 amps is required, the Victron Orion converter can be run in parallel up to 5 units, for 350 total amps 12V

    Wrong 24v to 12v Converter?

Adjustable just means you can set the voltage output you want, not that the output is going to adjust itself. Sounds like you need to find people with a better understanding of electronics to do the work

    PNW Info Thread!

typically not. I have GMRS radios that I can share a couple of, and some of the other guys have various types of radios in their rigs, but with less than a dozen rigs and modern cell phones there normally isn't any real need. As long as they don't do any more detours just past Hoquiam the...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Found a partial list elsewhere on this site a bit ago that had the M997 and M998 listed as examples that they could be marked as 03 if they were empty, and 04 if loaded to capacity, so that matches what I remembered. Only the first generation trucks listed, nothing newer. But to change my...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

To my knowledge, that is a bridge plate for letting others know your max possible gross weight, so a truck that's too heavy doesn't get told to cross an improvised bridge that may not be rated for it. number would be in tons, so 05 would be 10k lbs, 06 would be 12k lbs. If you are towing a...
