I did want to mention that I do set the metal cowl screen in place and push the hood back down to paint the vehicle. Just in case you wondered. Have a Great Day.
Tonight I began the masking process. Like I mentioned this is they way I like to paint an entire vehicle. No glass and I am assured that the pinch welds are clean and painted and all the window rubbers will be clean and free of paint. This is as close to factory as I can get in an early 1900’s...
You can pull the inside cable out and use cable lube. It will work itself up into the speedometer head. They make a small tube of speedometer cable lube. Good Luck
A date has been set. Next Saturday will be paint day. I will spend this entire week getting it prepped for paint. That means cleaning, masking and covering everything I don't want painted or overspray. I suspect it will take the 4 days M-T to get it all ready. Friday, I want to spray the sealer...
I am out working on the Wild Weasel and am going to spray some black paint on the axle frame core support and inner fenders, I think I have enough paint
I used the ball joint/U joint press to get the old pressed bushings out. It was magical. I used heat in the past. That was messy. My new go to after I don’t have many to do anymore
Notice the clutch is broken. That is how hard the rear glass was winding up and down. This rusty hunk fell out from the rear side while I was tapping and blowing in the rear gate hinge area. ???? Another rainy day cancelled my day of work on the Weasel. This is usually the condition of the...
This my first attempt to post pictures from my iPhone. If this works I am not going to be posting pictures all the time. This is one of the outer axle U joints. One side is OK the other is tight. Very tight. I replace them in pairs. I think I found the tight one. I pressed out and replaced all...
If it were mine, I would undo the resistor bypass. That is me. I have privately been driving a CUCV since 1995 and never did that bypass. I have owned many. Never needed to and never had cascading glow plugs or burnt wiring. I maintain the trucks I have and fix things as I see them happening. I...
At the cost of ATF, I would first remove the 30MM fill nut from the transfer case with a catch pan right there. It flows out I would stop and seek expert services on the transmission and transfer case. If you keep running it ill, it will cost even more to fix. Broken case or whatever else goes...
And yes that will be part of the glow plug system. The other sensor is at the rear of the passenger's side head. It is behind the last glow plug and has 2 wires.
The broken socket is getting traded for a new one. I know that socket did a lot of tough work over the past 40+ years. But all good things must come to an end just like the wild wood weed.
Last night I made my cardboard cut outs as close to size as possible to close all the window openings. I...
I am back in and have accomplished my goals for the weekend. The gate is on and adjusted as good as I can get it. I did have to use a few shims in the lower under side of the hinge to get the right side of the gate down a bit. The entire M1009 is DA sanded and hand sanded. This is the look...
