Glad you made it through and your home was safe. It is crazy this year up in NoCal area. I remember how devastating the fires in San Diego were in 2003 and 2007. We know people who lost their homes and other where the fire came right up to their property. Scary!
Not likely. The VRV would help control shift points. Even if you didn't use any vacuum to the trans, it would still work but would only shift at a high RPM level but still shift.
If you had a trans failed (especially a TH400), it was not built correctly (if recently rebuilt) or was already on...
It is in a protected area so it wouldn't be damage. Could be related to helping keep the fuel cooler as inside the rails would trap a lot of the engine heat and could cause issues. Just a thought.
Interesting since the item I posted up is specifically their kit for a '81-'84 K30, 1ton, standard cab, long bed, single rear wheel. They listed for dually and crew cab models as well, all for 1 ton. When did you talk to them last? Maybe something they have added since then.
Yeah, I normally do make my own and the last few vehicles I have been using Nicopp line, which is AWESOME! In all the vehicles I have built over the years, I have done 150+ flares. I have it down to a science. LOL I was just trying to save some time. I am planning to replace the soft lines...
Hi all,
I was looking at my hard lines on the M1010 and they likely need to be replaced when I refresh the brake system. I see that Inline Tube has a full stainless steel kit and curious if anyone has used this.

Thanks
Keep in mind, electric pump should be as close to the tank as possible. Electric pumps like to push fuel, not pull fuel. This is the advantage to mechanical pumps as they will pull fuel much easier. One of the reasons companies started putting electric pumps into the fuel tank. Keeps them...
Cracks between the valves is what is most common on these heads and many consider them trashed at that point. I have heard of them being repaired by welding but not done much. If the heads are cracked, I wouldn't waste my time with them.
Hi all,
I just ran across this YouTube video using a cutaway of a Stanadyne DB2 pump. Very interesting to see how an injection pump works but also brings up the question of, who in the heck came up with this idea? Just crazy to think how this works.
Hope this is helpful for folks.
If it comes up as rendered destroyed, I doubt you will get it registered for the road. Basically that vehicle should not exist and will likely never be road legal again. I do not think you can get that changed/removed. I would likely pull the good parts off it and scrap the rest, IMHO.
Thanks for the info. Sadly in San Diego, 6.5" diesels are not very common to find so going to be hard to find an engine/donor. Banks kits are almost as bad to find plus I know there is no way it will work with the M1010 dual pass. side alts (which are larger than M1008). I am not 100% sure...
Sounds like someone swapped the VIN in the cab that had a title. Likely something with the original M1008 title or VIN was screwed up. It could have been totaled, lost title and unable to get a replacement, etc.
In any case, changing the VIN tag on any vehicle is illegal in all 50 states...
That's awesome!!! I am seriously looking to do this to my M1010. I time 0-60mph with a sundial so it needs something. I have been considering doing a EFI BBC but would like to keep the diesel.
Where did you get most of your parts?
