Now that sucks ! I bought a complete set years ago and mounted them up, but I wanted to get some more for when mine wear out. Guess I just better make sure to really lube them well . Hopefully they will last my lifetime, then who cares !
Is this a question or an advertisement ?
Also a 20W oil is too thin for our machines. You need at least a good 50W gear oil or your going to start loosing bearings and teeth off gears. If you noticed all the "recommendations" , they are for old "slow" moving tractors not vehicles that go on the...
That's actually how I'm going to do mine and that's the way someone else here has already done theirs. Sorry cannot remember his name right now. The company I'm using made the steering system on the "MRAP" . Again I cannot remember their name and all my material is in the new shop in some...
Before doing anything I would use a pressure gauge and check the "main" side pressure. There is two pressure systems in this engine. A high and low side. If the spring is loosing tension on the low side it can cause a loss of pressure. This assembly is located under the turbo just above the oil pan.
I used an old inner tube and cut it into strips and using adhesive glue bonded it to my brackets. Has worked great for years now.
So your idea should work also.
Tim. You have the "cleanest" Deuce I've ever seen !!!
It's immaculate !
How many hours do you have in your Deuce ? Plus can you come over to my place and help me clean-up my Deuce !
If the cans are still intact, then the oil should be good. Are these official military issue ? If so you could sell it pretty easy. I'd buy a gallon off you myself.
Good job going the extra mile to find the cure for your tranny ails. Though the solenoid would have been cheaper to replace if it had been the problem.
The 5 ton has it's own Air-Pack. The long style for the Deuce has a hole to add special oil, but it is only a few drops monthly. Most people don't add the "special" military oil as it is very expensive. I spent over $200.00 for a gallon of the stuff a few years back. Now there are some companies...
Recovery classes can benefit all of us. I could use some refresher course's myself after all these years. Before I went in the Marines and Tank school, I used to off-road with my IHC Scout a lot. I had a nice Warn winch mounted on the front bumper and thought myself the "Cats Meow !" . Then I...
Before buying anything, why not look into taking a "Vehicle Recovery Class" . Warn Winch used to offer these classes I believe. The classes I had in the Marines gave me the knowledge to extract any vehicle out of almost any situation. That includes the time my neighbor had a 450 case dozer...
The next time you take the truck out, and it starts to make this noise again do this check. Make sure the park brake is on. Check your transmission oil level. Then start up your truck.
Push in the clutch and put the transmission in first gear. With the clutch fully depressed, does the noise get...
That's interesting your wife was a teacher also. Though it is not always funny having them around, especially when they start correcting your speech when your visiting friends ! "No sweetheart you cannot use that word in that context" . Really ? Well I just did and nobody died.
By the way. Did...
