YES !!!
Without it you will not be able to build pressure to fire off the engine. (It holds pressure against the injection pump) Once the engine starts it will produce enough pressure to continue to run.
The Injection pumps "plunger" makes the high pressure, but with no fluid to pressurize...
Thanks Ahab ! It's nice to be appreciated. Now if my son would just listen to me ! He's off in Germany going to school right now under the student exchange program at Wake Forest. He knows everything there is to know now. Just ask him !
Here I thought it would be easy having a child in my...
Remember there is a big difference between "air pressure" and Hydraulic pressure" . A 2" inch ram with 1500 to 2000 PSI would be plenty to power your steering.
If your kit comes with a fan already on the condenser then you can mount it anywhere there is air flow. For example, on the roof comes to mind ! Yes I know that sounds crazy, but at the transit department I worked at we mounted cooling condensers that had built in fans on the roof all the time...
You have a fuel line leak somewhere. At this point I would take off your fuel tank line and put an air chuck fitting on it. Then take off the line going into the Hydraulic Head and cap it off. Then put some shop air in the line and start looking for a leak with some soapy water (I like to use...
It's information like this that should be mentioned when asking for help. We didn't know you had messed with the fuel rod assembly. You just said it would not run right after sitting for a few weeks after doing some brake work and heater delete.
In the future, you need to mention "all" the work...
So every part of the injection pump controls are moving freely ? No sticking throttle or foot control or anything like that ?
Then I would check the turbo outlet for leaking oil. I know this sounds kinda silly, but if your leaking engine oil form the turbo it could cause a hard start and even a...
If I had the money, I would put a DuraMax L5P with Allison transmission in mine. 500 HP with almost 500 Ibs of torque would make my Deuce sit-up and dance !
Last time I checked though a DuraMax LML (not a L5P) cost over $8,000.00 used !
I haven't finished the exhaust part yet. I just have a cap on the filter housing for now. To many projects going on, and too old to finish them all !
Truth be told, I forgot about finishing the exhaust clean-out part of the filter. Now that my shop is almost finished I should fab-up a tube and...
There are two types of starting aids for the Deuce. One is the fuel ignitor system and the second is an ether injection system. Both are original. I had the ether injection system on mine. I removed it since I never needed it up here in the Pacific Northwest. I boxed it up and stored it away...
Your oil pressure starts at 100 to 120 PSI then is lowered by a pressure regulator. You can have that same pressure in the oil cooler if there is a problem with the regulator.
I have two oil pressure gauges on my dash so I can monitor my engines performance at all times. One is on the high...
