If the engine sounds good and doesn´t smoke at 30 mph you´re riding in the lower gears... You should check the transfer case again. At 30 mph in the fourth higher gear the engine runs nearly at idle speed and couldn´t work well. Switch the transfer case from the upper to the lower gears and see...

I passed the engine to a friend of mine, he is restoring a goat better than a new one... us-depot für M151 A2 (click at "Kategorien" - "m561 Gama Goat" on the right side of the page... And one day I'll have a goat again! :)

Unimog graveyard 3o years ago a german dealer bought 500 Unimog S404 from the German Bundeswehr. Part of them has been sold to african countrys and to private people. Nearly 100 are left today...

The 3-53 is made for max. speed... 55 mph is no problem! Just watch the temperature, oil pressure and protect your ears ;) Use only Shell Rotella DD40 oil for the engine or equivalent...

WD40 might be the only way to resolve the clutch... If it works than you have to flood the clutch with brake cleaner... maybe it works, if not you have to pull the engine anyway... and if you do that you won´t repair the clutch, a new one is a must!
