If it is a good running 002 with reasonably low hours, you did not over pay. If it ends up needing a bunch of work, don't think of it as a bad deal, think of it as a learning opportunity.
There is a universal field flasher called Jam Labs E-Z field flasher for around $35. Plugs into convenience outlet of almost any generator, if you are going be reviving dead generators it is a safe easy way to go. Learned about it on smokstack and bought one, nifty little unit.
If it were me, I'd try to find some off a cucv that was being parted out. Easier to buy than fabricate. Maybe check some of the vendors here that part out CUCVs
I did check CT1 and resistance was in spec. Reconnection switch on this unit looks new and freshly installed, making me wonder if it was installed correctly.
I don't know about CT31 and 32, will have to look into that.
Thanks Peter, that's interesting about the paralleling in the breaker.
Another note, on the output box that I was having troubles with, changing the R-3 adjustment made no difference, it was holding at about 3 times the suggested setting of .6 amps even though I was moving the R-3 shaft. (as...
I was having same problem this summer with an 003 that tripped at around 30A. I did swap breakers out of a 002 that would bog down on overload without tripping breaker. I have since adjusted the R-3 on that 002. There was something else wrong with the control box circuitry, it was not the...
My experience with GL overhauled or not equipment is mainly with generators. Seems when a piece of equipment needs major maintenance, it gets sent in for overhaul or reset. Some units get rebuilt and some are waiting to get rebuilt when the class of truck, machine or whatever gets surplussed...
If you plan on using it for work at all, the easiest thing to do is to register it commercial. I know, that's real dollars, but if you have a little paying work for it you can earn price of paperwork and write off expenses on you taxes if you file a schedule C. Someone else may know about RV...
Test fluid to see what is in there. DOT 3 will absorb water. It will bead in DOT 5. It does not matter which you have so much as it matters not to mix them.
I had a throttle cable that was binding because it was getting hot because a ground strap had rusted off. It only happened when lights were on, and current was grounding from chassis to motor though cable. Took a while to figure out, but I saw it glowing one night. That was on a '70 Pontiac...
Welcome to forum. A fact that does not show up very well in TM circuit diagram is that the heater blower circuit is tied in with alternator 1 circuit and light on cluster. Try checking output voltage on that alt, also for short in cluster harness.
Ha ha, one of my friends who is a bike enthusiast joked about putting an 003 motor on a bike, that 4 cylinder Onan is less than 20hp. We ended up finding a picture of a bike made of timbers and figured it would be a good fit. Loud, slow and heavy. The 002 motor's cylinders go up and down...
My daughter is 14 and she has claimed one of my 1008s as 'hers' since she was 11. On the plus side, she could not have a lot of passengers, it weighs almost 3 tons and can't go fast.
On the minus side, it weighs 3 tons and she might be tempted/encouraged to take it on the beach or otherwise...
