The Dorman oil cooler lines are not the aluminum cooler lines that run across the radiator. The oil cooler lines are from the aluminum radiator cross over lines to the left rear of the engine above the oil filter. Good Luck. The aluminum cross over line can be hard to find.
I just had the tank out of that M1009 unit in July. It is in great condition. I replaced the sending unit with the last OEM GM one I had. I replaced the sock and all. I feel that pulling the line and siphoning all the fuel out is the only way to do it. It is not worth dropping the tank to get...
When it is cranking loosen the nozzle nuts and unplug or remove the glow plugs. See if you are getting fuel to the delivery nozzles. With the glow plugs out the engine will spin over quicker and bleed any air out you have. Also bench test the glow plugs. Eliminate all possible issues. But if it...
Remove the rubber fuel line leading into the fuel lift pump. Get a siphon started and it will drain the tank. No need to get under there and force the vent and filler hose. Once the siphon is started it will only stop when the tank is empty. Make sure you keep an eye on the drain pan and empty...
I managed to figure out the issue with the Hi Lift jack. It was nothing more than the pipe handle was missing, and I was using small breaker bar to jack it up. Once I put the correct size pipe in the hole it worked perfect as designed. Imagine that.
I was able to jack the 4 corners and securely...
Today my goal is easy. Or I want to think it will be. I want to get the trailer securely up on blocks. the jack stands are wobbly and for my next few projects I am going to have my head and body under the chassis. I think it should be on wood blocks and unshakable. I am also going to study my hi...

Every picture tells a different story. But mileage and condition are key to value. And something is only worth what one buyer is willing to pay and what the person seller is willing to part with it. An agreement is made...
After looking at the internet sales and pricing and figuring in the price of a new truck in the same platform. That is a great price. Figure guys are buying CUCV's for 1/2 that and spending another 1/2 of that price to have an older truck that has been repaired. This is an OEM great looking...
I use a little 2" grinder and grind on the bracket. I favor the bracket and tap a flat wedge under the bracket and keep grinding on the bracket at the weld and tap lightly on the wedge. It will POP and you can get it off with no adverse damage. Slow as you go, and a small grinder works better...
I came home and went out in the cold again and worked on the trailer. The toolbox will be mounted on the left fender. I also will be mounting a lighted license plate bracket on the top of the fender. The plastic tent pegs are for props only. The license bracket is galvanneal steel and will be...
Take it apart dirty and clean each part as you reassemble. Or reassemble every part and clean them. You will get fined where I live for washing greasy engine parts at a public car wash. For your reading pleasure. I resurrected this M1009 from the crush pile at a local salvage yard. Have fun and...
I am referring to the outer axle U joints. They can become tight and not return to the straight-ahead neutral position on one side and make all sorts of things happen. I had them front axle U joints bad on a 1984 M1028 and the 1984 M1028 had a different rear cab crossmember. It had just cab...
As I stated I would remove the brake drum after work today and get a bird's eye view of the inside of the drum and brake shoes. That way I have been there and seen what was in there. I was delighted. First the 5-gallon bucket and the HMMWV seat cushion. Last week I busted my folding chair. It...
