    Yet another fluids thread....

After reading probably a thousand posts, and dozens of threads, probably hundreds of pages, I'm now more confused than ever, and my head hurts. I'm making a list of fluids, and in searching, the amount of 'use this, not that' followed by 'Make sure you use that, not this' is making my head...

5 ton expando vs. extra long wheelbase cargo.

The expansible van is kinda crap in its design. Sides are blocked when folded, since the roof and floor are the sides when not expanded. So, everything permanent needs to be in the center. If you're gonna set up for a couple weeks, it's great. Camping and setting it up and only staying a night...

    Deuce Jack Safety Questions

Any suggestion on where to get actual 6 ton jack stands? Most of the local stores seem to have '6 ton' jack stands, but they're actually 3 ton jack stands as a pair.

What antenna do I need for 450MHz?

Off topic, but my M1031 had antennas for 2m, 440, general coverage RX (no HF), CB, 2.4 Ghz, 700/800 Mhz, and another VHF 1/4 wave used for a TV antenna, in addition to the reinforced 3/4 pipe flange that I could screw a 10' pipe into, and guy down, if I needed a long wire for HF or the extra...

What antenna do I need for 450MHz?

Low power handling capacity could be an issue. Most mobiles are around 40-50W.

What antenna do I need for 450MHz?

    That would be it

What antenna do I need for 450MHz?

BPV-220-520 is probably what you're looking for, but good luck finding one at a reasonable price.

What antenna do I need for 450MHz?

That's for portables, not mobiles. Only 8w power handling with TNC connector.

What antenna do I need for 450MHz?

The military wide band antennas are junk. SWR is usually 3:1 or more and 'gain' is usually measured in the negative... Almost better off with a 1/4 wave or 1/2 wave on an NMO mount.. but you lose that military look. Just about any military UHF antenna you find is gonna be for satellite work.

    Sound Insulation

Nice. Should help keep it warmer in the winter, too. I used peel and seal to soundproof my CUCV, and it was really good. Basically a thinner dynamat at a fraction of the cost.

    24V siren electric current

The federal Q2, which is THE STANDARD when it comes to mechanical sirens, will pull about 100A +/-..... at 12V... The ones you have are smaller mechanical sirens, and 24V and not 12V, but I'd still expect 25A @ 24V...

Katrina Deuce Story - MUST READ

IDA is bad. Remember, you're on your own, for the most part. Don't be a hero, and don't try to be politically correct. If things don't feel right, LEAVE...

Hurricane Ida - Deep Water Rescue

It's gonna be real bad. Traveled about 60 miles inland, only mildly dropped in intensity, in about 8 hours... That's super slow. NOLA is without power, they only have their own generators to power pumps instead of the normal grid system..... People are idiots, as usual, and driving through...

    Arizona Registration Follies: SF97 Fail

Yup. There are rulings that show that they're exempt, and therefore comply. The states that ban them look at it backwards, saying the must NOT comply because they're exempt.

    Super single or duals?

To expand on that.... A truck weighing 30Klbs.... with 10 aired down G272s = 1,470 sq in of area. So, we take 30K and divide by the 1,470, and you get 17.2413793103 ... So, ~17 PSI For contrast, the average human foot exerts ~6-16 PSI depending on standing, running, etc. Contrast that to 6...

    Arizona Registration Follies: SF97 Fail

They claim 'it's all about safety', and demand FMVSS compliance... When some of these trucks were built before FMVSS.... They'll register a Model T, but not a deuce (in MD, for example). It has nothing to do with 'safety', has to do with control.

    Super single or duals?

That's why I mentioned contact area. 2x 1200s have larger patch area than 1x 395. In sand, a single 1200r20 is 147² in contact, and a 395 is 220² in footprint. While dualled 1200R20s dropped to low pressure aren't suggested due to tire rub, it's definitely doable. So, 147 *4 = 588² in...

    Arizona Registration Follies: SF97 Fail

It really depends on your state, how your licensing agencies deal with things, and whether or not the agent you're dealing with has had their beauty sleep. I've processed a ton of SF-97s in 2 states with no issues. Military vehicles in general are starting to get the eye of freedom hating...
