I purchased a set for the Gladiator LMTV. I am estimating it will weigh in about the same as an overweight HUMVEE, so, say, maybe 10 000 lb at the most. I am anxious to get it on the scales when it is done. I see no downside to the hub conversion: if the low speed crawl technical stuff requires...
Still working steering stuff. I borrowed an idea from the hot rod guys: when they replace an inline 6 with a V8 then the steering may have to be rerouted around headers and stuff. I used a chain driven offset box.
I will be the 3rd vote for replacing the rubber fuel lines. I had new ones made up at a Parker hose place locally. Not alot of money, solved this problem.
Yes, most likely will be removable bed sides to service the engine. If I were to cut out a hole for the engine to stick up then that's about all that would be left anyway
I am chiming in only because I have a special circumstance and I like being a six-sigma out there kinda guy. I will be running pressure between zero and 5 psi ;)
Slightly off topic: I am looking for two of the long front axle shafts to modify if you guys have any in the parts pile.
You see, when I flip the chunk to a low pinion configuration the long axle becomes too long and the short one too short. If I have two long axles shortened then I could do...
I found the Monroes that are widely touted on the interweb to be too short, only allowing for 1" of uptravel. I am currently fitting Ranchos that are meant for the rear of the Ford F350. "36A" they are called. I will report back how it goes.
I just cut the bottom leaf with an angle grinder while still on the truck. Ride height stays the same. You can see the cut leaf in this video:
I would guess, because there are 3 leafs of the same width, thickness, and nearly same length, and the weight of the truck is unchanged in your case...
A simple minded view: when I look at the M35 deuce n half pumpkins then look at the Meritors, well, the Meritors look tiny. " There is gear reduction at the hubs so R & P do not have to be so big," is the response I get.....
