M35A2 LDT - Advanced Timing Question

I usually downshift when it drops down to 1700 under load. 1800 is generally considered as the max torque point.

Comical stenciling on 803 GOV planet today

Aug 18, 1969. But SNAFU is far older than that date. I can remember at least one mention when my father was still on active duty (he retired Feb 1962). I think the mention was when we were in Germany , Aug 56 through Aug 59.

    Hard top seals?

Most any fix I do 'these days' should outlast me, or at least my ownership of MV's. Neil Hendrix 'retired' from MV's when he was 75, I'm past that age. Larry R just changed a head gasket at age 78, and wants to do all his crank ,pistons and mains this winter.

    can anybody decode these codes

Probably 'obsolete' by current standards, just as the deuces were replaced by more modern designs in the US Military, first with the active duty troops for Fiscal Year 2000, then for the National Guard/Reserves in FY 2010. The military does not want to keep parts for obsolete vehicles, so they...

Popping sound: looking for advice in Northeast Ohio.

I heard some grinding gears, which will mostly go away as the operator gets more experience. The mechanics here in the group should be able to hear a lot more than I can detect.

    M35E3C - Little-Known ESP Link?

Yes, from what Brian told me AMG built different variants of transmissions, engines, winches, tires, brakes, and other parts for the Army. Essentially every one of them was a 'one of a kind'.

    M35E3C - Little-Known ESP Link?

I'll mhave to get a picture of Brian's truck, it is serial number 4, probably from the same series, but supposedly never belonged to Uncle as it has "AM GENERAL" on the front bumper.

"High Flow" air tank cable drain valves

I have the valves on one of my trucks. At shutdown I drain the tanks till there is no more mist coming out and stop. It has never been more than 10-15 seconds, and that was after a long trip in the rain. Trips under 100 miles in good weather drain out in about five seconds. YMMV.

Popping sound: looking for advice in Northeast Ohio.

It might help if you had this > GTA-9-1-185 (Systematic Inspection Procedure for the 2 1/2 Ton Truck), and somehow it needs to be in the Deuce manuals, but my copy is 20MB (for 8 pages), so it's too big to upload. it seems to be available at John Tennis's site > [PDF] GTA#9-1-185 (1-8 ) -...

They both sounded pretty normal to me. Might have been a little valve tapping in the first one. Can you get some sounds from inside the cab while doing the same thing?

There are 8 CUCV rear bumpers, currently two are spoken for, $400 each. Ones not spoken for will stay home.

    Hot in Arizona

Creighton Abrams had at least five Shermans (maybe six) shot out from under him during WWII. He, and his crew survived all of those incidents.

The official 2022 Southeast Military Vehicle Rally buy-sell-trade thread

My buddy John Peck will be bringing some stuff to the rally. I know he has NOS CUCV rear bumpers and jeep parts. The bumpers need to be spoken for before he loads out as they are large and heavy. Post AND PM (start conversation with me) if you have needs.
