    7520lbs and 130 hp

The new LS V8 engines have excellent power to weight ratio. I seen a 1984 K30 with a 2016 5.3 gas engine in it. Looked almost original under the hood. Lots of room left over. I wouldn't and couldn't do it. This had a wiring kit that made everything nice and neat. A/C and all. The truck is in...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

I 2was just called the Edmond Fitzgerald is ready for pick up. This has the alternators with self exciting voltage regulators so I no longer have to fuss with the Gen 1 & Gen 2 idiot lights every other year. I will see where the voltmeter shows charge and that will be good enough for me. Self...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Basically take the torx screws to the hardware store and get replacement hex head bolts/the same size and length. 5/16-8mm headed bolt work best. a dab of never seize and your all set. When your ready to get that pump rebuilt just keep in mind that it will make great improvements and is very...

And this did what? Asking because I don't know what this would improve.

Lost Fast Idle Function When Cold/Thermostat Replacement Issues

I would just use a flanged M10 bolt and some silver never seize. It is about as good as you can get. I had better success using an impact on them. That always worked for me. I tighten a tweak first and then hit it in reverse. The impact seems to be the trick. Good Luck.

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

I have the new old U bolts removed so I can have new ones made while I am at the spring shop. I need 4 the same for the back axle, 3 the same for the front axle and the one odd ball for the right inner housing to plate. I feel very wasteful throwing these away but they will be recycled.

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

I spent a good part of my weekend off task. Sometimes that happens. I did promise an progress report. And I would be untruthful if I said I had a struggle to reach my goal on the CUCV M1009. I removed the front and rear spring on the right side only. I could have used a hand ratchet. Everything...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

This weekend I got myself involved in a job that I usually don't get involved it. The VW was near a house that burnt down and was not insured. It was the daily driver of the owner and I was asked if I could do the repairs. I thought well it looks easy enough. The entire front end was melted and...

Leak from bolt holding power steering pump- FUBAR

OK. Remove the stud and clean the threads really good. Put some liquid Teflon sealer on the threads and reinstall the bolt. Good Luck. And I think the welding of the bracket is your only option at the moment.

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

Time to work on the M1009. Expect good things when I report back at the end of the day. Minor updates and progress but I am still without heat in my barn. I hope Santa arrives soon with heat and updated lighting. I have been a very good boy. This is me in my barn. HA HA. Happy Holidays. Enjoy Life.

Proud new owner of 84 m1009 (body work update)

That looks like one I built back in 2013. I am sure it is not but one of the members here had the M1009 I built back then. Good Luck. Have Fun. They are tough durable vehicles unless you start hacking them up and lifting them. That vehicle still has a great value in the stock condition. Happy...

    CUCVRUS Repair Projects

After tormenting myself trying to get these double nuts back on the axle spindles. I ordered some new spindle nuts I know a lot of times the small lock pins are worn down on the inner nut from not being installed correctly. These nuts are readily available and if yours are worn and the pin is...

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

Live and learn. Do NOT reuse U bolts. I did many times but decided to check on this today. Glad I did. Most times I just burn them off and get new ones. Little Red has new ones and I am just going to toss them and replace them. They are not worth any issues. Just replace them. I got in many...
