I think I read somewhere on SS that you could wire the broil and bake burners together on a stove such that they burned at the same time to consume more amps. Has anyone done this? What kind of hazards does this present - overloading control circuits?

Total Newb: 10KW Generator needed What am I looking for how do I find it.

I suggest you search this forum for answers to whatever questions you might have: there's a ton of good info from member's personal experiences. Search on sizing a generator for house back up - 3.5MW is a lot of power. Search off grid installations to see what others have done. You need to...

    Do You Cover Your 803?

More Details on Post #28 - Mud Flap Covers..... I buy 3 foot mud flaps and cut them to fit then tie them in place with para-cord. I make a small hook to hang the vertical ones in place (see pics) and secure them with a loop of cord around the lower ends. I use the upper door handles to...

    Load Bank?

I like my $50 used electric stove. I put it on 2 Harbor Freight moving dollies and bought a canvas furniture cover to make it look nice for the neighbors. Total investment is something like $175 (with electrical connectors) and I can get 104% on the power meter of my MEP803A. All that...

    Generator Accessories

I bought one of the generator trailers out of Letterkenny recently and was surprised to discover a box of tools was included. This worked well for me because I haven't received anything except 1 aux. fuel line with the 2 generators I've purchased. The tool box had just about everything except...

    Running out of fuel 803

My 'minimal essential' approach to aux fuel uses a 5/16 female JIC x 1/4" hose barb (https://www.discounthydraulichose.com/FJX_04_05_p/fjx-04-05.htm), 1/4" fuel hose, a section of thin walled tube, and the critical rain cover (yogurt cup). It won't work during the storm but should be good to go...

    MEP-802A/803A S1 Master Switch Source - Electroswitch

My MEP-802A had a blue S1 that would hang in the start position so I started looking for a replacement. I found another blue one on the auction site for $90 and passed. I sent an email to Electroswitch: I wanted the NSN 5930-01-531-2976, Model 75902LV version. The folks at Electroswitch...

MEP80x Load Meter with Electric Oven Load Bank

Thanks for all the input. Clearly, I need to invest in an amp meter: I do not own one. Once I get it I will be able to answer my own question regarding the performance of my generators. And I may have time to cook myself up a batch of cookies next time I fire up my stove instead of worrying...

MEP80x Load Meter with Electric Oven Load Bank

OH, no. Not the 802. The 803 gets a meter reading of 100% when everything is on...well, broil, 4 eyes, and a warming tray. With the 802 it's more like bake and 2 small eyes to register 100% on the current meter. I like your idea of adjusting the eyes: I've been putting everything on 100%...

MEP80x Load Meter with Electric Oven Load Bank

I've got an MEP-803A and an MEP-802A that will run for hours at 100% on the Per Cent Rated Current meter supplying power to my electric stove 'Load Bank'. When I bump them up to say 107% they will trip out on Over Load in around 15 minutes. I've been researching the forum and have found...

    MEP-8xx S1 and S6 switch variations

dav5 How do you configure this switch (804 S6) to work as an S1 on an MEP-80xA? I just bought an MEP-802A and it has a pretty weak blue plastic S-1. The switch hangs up in start and does not feel as robust as the Electroswitch units. Thanks,

    Do You Cover Your 803?

I bought a couple 18-wheeler mud flaps: one is tied to the top vent to keep out snow and debris. I cut pieces from the other to cover the air intake vents. Intake vents have a V hook made by bending a corner brace to hang them in place. I secure all three with cord.

    MEP803A Thermostat

I've got a sticky coolant gauge and changed it out with......a 280F gauge. Did not work so well - always reading high. The sender in this unit is matched to that 240F Beede I took out so I jiggled around with it and re-installed it. I think it reads pretty accurately when it reads: was...

    MEP803A Thermostat

Could very well have been a problem with antifreeze mix: I was running on what was in it when I picked it up and never did check its ratio. It was clean, green (Guyfang's yellow bottle I suspect) ran well in the winter and so I ran it. Engine and radiator are clean and the fan belt is tight...

    MEP803A Thermostat

I acquired the generator in a 12/7/16 auction, so most runs have been in cooler weather and water temps have stayed below 200F. On 3/1/17 the high ambient temp was 81F so ambient conditions definitely contributed to the 210F water temp and resulting high temp shutdown. I am a wee bit concerned...

    MEP803A Thermostat

My MEP803A (2012 Letterkenny Reset with 53 hrs) overheated and shut down during a 105% PF run a few weeks ago so I changed out the thermostat. I bought a new Onan Thermostat on the auction site with the correct NSN # (6685-01-360-9653) and part # (186-6193). It is rated at 74C (165F). All...
