There's debate about failing glow plugs causing decreased fuel economy as well, I don't think it would be as substantial as 3mpg seeing as they're only supposed to kick on upon startup and something like 3 minutes into cold idle, but maybe. Check the wheel bearings as well, and "goofy" stuff...
Oh man...... It wasn't out of a 9C1 Caprice was it? I tried to use park to stop once, for about 10sec, before hitting my brother's truck and actually stopping.....
Personally, for a thousand mile haul, I'd use a flatbed trailer. That's a lot of miles to be paranoid that a t case might somehow accidentally engage, or have the trans slip into gear, or whatever else Murphy can throw at you. If that wasn't an option, I'd follow the procedure in the TM, even if...
One of these setups will change your life, that's a Dayton 3ton chain fall and 3 16ft 4X6s holding 1100lbs of full dressed mercruiser 5.7. After pulling 3 engines with this setup, I'll never go back to cherry picking again.
I want to say yes, because without a proper seal, air will be allowed in, but the other guys know a lot more than me. FWIW, copper washers are cheap and it definitely won't hurt to have a good one installed.

Now you have it, page 52 I believe

These guys beat me to it 😆. The wiring harnesses are sort of generic, in that there's many different M44 variants that use the same harness, so some wires literally DO go to nothing. Those CAD blueprints are your best shot for getting it right. Something worth checking into would be a keyed...
Would there be a way to tell if your truck was a gun truck (other than the obvious enclosure) that was repurposed down the line? I have some "interesting" scarring on my hard top that looks like someone welded a patch in, and more on the bed that looks like someone attempted to turn the hard...
Me to me when the video started: "That snow doesn't look that deep..... How'd they get a grader stuck in it?"
Me to me after the turnaround watching the rear axle sink: " Oh 😮"
Great stuff!
