    Body Lift question.

Welcome, my truck has 3 inch body lift with 38" tires and in rough terrain the rear tires will bottom out in the center of the fenders. The fronts also rub when crawling over terrain. I plan to get a slightly smaller diameter once these wear out. You will probably be fine on the street but I...

Some welding trucks for your perusal

It appears I am reaching the weight limit as there is currently about 1 inch sag from front to rear but it handles good and with the Duramax, the acceleration is still quite ridiculous.

Some welding trucks for your perusal

Sincere thanks for the compliments. I haven't done much work on the truck lately. Just a brush guard and a lightbar up front that I plan to use for support of a roof rack. I already posted these pics on the what have you done to your hmwv lately thread but here they are again. Chucky, I would...

Cracked block- might as well upgrade.

*Update* this truck is back in service! Little bit of grinding, welding, trip to the weld supply store, some more grinding and welding. Crack went all the way through but by working together, one man heating and peening while other man welds, it was a successful repair.

    Pintle hook question

Appreciate all the input. I have cut a hole in the back side of the bumper and I will make some braces that will attach to the pintle hook assembly from the rear as the original configuration did. This should be sufficient for what I will use the hook for. Once I have the braces made, if there...

    Pintle hook question

Wouldn't ya know some continued searching brought me full circle back the this forum and this particular thread. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/3200-tow-upgrade-to-a2-air-lift-bumper-with-reinforcement-plate-pintle-mystery.181311/ Looking at all that, it looks to me that other than a...

    Pintle hook question

Imteresting, so I hope I am interpreting correctly when I assume the bracket you are referring to is the cone shaped piece and it was likely replaced with a shorter tubing piece to compensate for the added thickness of the reinforcing plate. I can fabricate all that stuff simple enough.

    Pintle hook question

Thanks Coug, I recall seeing the plate but didn't realize it was because the back was cut completely out. I will just do the same. Appreciate the help. Any idea how thick that plate is?

    Pintle hook question

I made a bumper from 2" x 8" rectangle tube similar to an airlift bumper. I was intending to use the original pintle hook from the truck but I am wonderimg if there is a different hook utilized on the airlift bumper with a longer stem to compensate for the 2" thick bumper. I think it would only...
