    Meet Mr Rusty

LWell here I am after 3 hours of attempting to get the starter bolt out. I am failing. It was broken off deep in the hole. i used my stud extracter and snapped. it off. I did get the broken piece out of the hole. I worked on it long enough. I am going to go buy a 13/32" drill bit and just go...

    Meet Mr Rusty

Today is the day. I finished mowing all the grass on the tractor. Like all things mechanical I had a few break downs. They come in hoards at me. Most times things go for a year or 2 and this year was the year of broken worn parts. The drag link on my Honda 4518 tractor broke out of the ball and...

    Meet Mr Rusty

I just breifly looked at mr. Rusty today. I have to get a parts order in tomorrow and fight with getting out a broken starter bolt. That I hope is a fair fight. More progress later. Happy 4th of July.

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Long Day today and HOT. I juggled several tasks and accomplished more than I expected. I fell short of getting the grass mowed but tomorrow s another day. I did a lot of work on lawn equipment and after all was ready to go back together I discovered I had the wrong cable. Minor set back. It was...

Cucv engine turns smoothly almost a full rotation by hand then comes to a complete st

I can't say never. They can be bent. Is it a PITA? Yes. I bought trucks that had the lines bent out of the way at some time. I re-bent them and got them back in the brackets again. But yes if you can avoid it don't. But I will never remove an intake manifold on a customers truck to change a...

    Meet Mr Rusty

Today after work I started the flywheel/flex-plate removal on Mr. Rusty. First make sure batteries are disconnected. First I removed both drive shafts. The caps came off and they are very rusty inside and have some knurling on the trunnion's so I will be replacing both of them. This is the...

Cucv engine turns smoothly almost a full rotation by hand then comes to a complete st

You will need to remove the fuel injection lines or bend them up out of the way. And do you know which side ( R or L head) is hanging up? If so I would just remove the entire fuel injection system. That is injection pump with lines still attached. At that point you will need to break the seals...

    1986 M1009 - tailgate window roll-up

Thank you for that tip. I am past my need for a regulator at the moment. The owner was here last night and picked up the Red Devil M1009. I have 3 M1009's to complete and I am tapping out. I am selling all my stock and moving onto less strenuous hobbies. Not that I won't take on small jobs. But...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

I had the windshield man stop by today and glue a new rear view inside mirror onto the windshield. I never had much luck doing that. And from the looks of the inside of this windshield it was glued on several times. The windshield man is a friend of mine and is very good at glass removal and...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Bent bumper fixed. It was rolled in pretty bad. ratchet strap hammer and tree. I think that was rolled in pretty good. Rear gate all rebuilt and license plate moved to left side and LED light installed along with a B/U alarm at customers request. Center console installed. I installed a siren and...

    1986 M1009 - tailgate window roll-up

I will pass on the LMC regulator. If they are anything like the LMC head lamp buckets I was given by the project owner they will not fit. The head lamp buckets were not countersunk at the adjusting screws. Only a small fish mouth flat cut out that could not hold adjustment if it had to. I opted...

    1986 M1009 - tailgate window roll-up

https://www.amazon.com/YOT-15641780-Blazer-Tailgate-Regulator/dp/B00MI7LKUM I called the GM dealer today. He said the regulator has long been discontinued. I have looked hi and lo. I seen bad reviews on LMC parts. Heck I had an A C Delco right out of the blister pack fail in 2-4 cycles after...

Cucv engine turns smoothly almost a full rotation by hand then comes to a complete st

So I understand it correctly. You have a truck that ran when parked. You have a replacement injection pump but have not installed it yet. You have looked in the cylinders thru the glow plug holes and poured WD 40 down the intake. Looking in the glow plug holes you will see nothing but the...

Cucv engine turns smoothly almost a full rotation by hand then comes to a complete st

Could be a valve stuck. Have you tried using the starter? May help get it past that point. May not but worth a try. WD 40 will only get on the intake valves if you put it down the intake. While you have the intake off spray oil down the EGR port in center of heads. Report back. Good Luck.

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Not sure what went wrong. I threw it on the scrap pile. I had it for at least 10 years. I had more still packaged and just unpacked a second one. I thought about tearing it apart and pictured the spring pressure injuring me so I refrained from that. Scrapped it. I cleaned and grease the lower...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Rusty sash guides. Very abrasive and do not slide nice in the side glass track guidesI polished the guides on both sides. This is the other side of the sash. It was also polished with a 2" Rolok polishing pad. This is a long discontinued part that goes in the bottom of the gate. It is activated...

    6.2 cranking times

https://youtu.be/MTkOl947aTk Watch this and learn. No cascading effect going on here. The stock system protects itself. At least in 24 years mine always has. When I had hard starting and long than normal cycle times and harder starting. I was the first one to look into it and correct it. Good Luck.

Pioneer tool rack in a M1009?

I had one mounted on the rear seat back. I used the existing seat hinge bolts to attach a piece of 12 gauge steel and the rack was mounted on that. Sold the M1009 back when 35 mm was my go to camera. Doubt I took pictures of it but it worked well and the seat never folded anyway.

    6.2 cranking times

I have a small booklet that was published by CUCV Electric on the CUCV Glow Plug System. I bought a circuit card from the company when it was in business and the booklet came along with it. It looks like a little TM booklet. I have read it cover to cover a thousand times and followed every...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

The upper one has the old felt guide and the lower one has been cleaned out and the Trim Lok seal glue in place. Both have new Trim Lok seal in place and are ready for a quick paint. Lots of dirt, glass, parts, mice nests in the bottom of the gate. Common items on M1009 gates that are not...
