Wait to start light bulb out or more serious issue?

What I did was probably sacrilege. I removed the starter switch. I ground down the back of the LED for the glow plug light. I then was able to wiggle the thing into place and use screws to secure it. Not exactly what is in the technical manual and yet it worked great for me. The key was...

Wait to start light bulb out or more serious issue?

Read my posted schematics regarding under the hood PCB/EESS plug. Then test if the glow plug hot wire (attached to pin-D) gets current and voltage when the vehicle is turned on. In essence follow Mogman’s instructions while using the schematics I posted. The thread containing the schematics is...

Wait light stays on, crank but no start.

If you crank then problem is either with no glow plugs OR no fuel flow due to fuel cutoff on IP not receiving electricity or not working. My sig line has a link with a schematic of wires in and out of the PCB/EESS.

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

The trick with LED marker lights is to get a constant ON relay. Then it will flash OFF when activated. That avoids issues that can occur with certain bulbs IIRC.

Doors needed handles. Modified and work GREAT. Gonna rethink my window attachments BUT nice to have an enclosed vehicle.

How to bypass PCB? I am aware some HMMWV owners have done it. TOBASH

My concern is NOT blowing out plugs. My concern is swelling. 12V seem to do it less, IMHO Also easier to find 12V at NAPA last minute, for when I forget to call the awesome people at Kascar, HPG, etc….

How to bypass PCB? I am aware some HMMWV owners have done it. TOBASH

Sometime in the next couple of weeks, I will be posting a PCB hack with revised schematic that will allow you to use 12 V glow plugs which do not swell while maintaining 24 V power to the rest of the vehicle. Essentially, you run a 12 V wire from the battery to the box and cut a hole in the...

    Headlight grounding?

The frames on these cars frequently do not ground. what I did for my LEDs is I wired them into my highbeam both power and ground. I can’t envision a time when I would use the LED without the highbeam off-road. I have a switch that will keep the LEDs from coming on during routine driving on the...

Log of my M1165. Project Joshua.

Just a note about the rear door strikers… There are three screws. The lower two have a loosely applied connected backing plate. The upper screw has a free spinning rear bolt. When placing a wire striker, DO NOT remove both striker screws at once. You will lose the back hardware plate and you...

Windows cut and placed. Super clear so only the reflection gives them away. Rain stains, dirt, and pin-striping from the trails will fix that. Door strikers and handles placed. Windows are removable. Gaskets later today. Who was it who said I don’t know how to fabricate??? 🙄🙄🙄 Seems like he...

Awesome. Well done. I’d like to see many more members post home made units.

Thanks Steve… It was definitely an option. Rivets have central holes… that leak. I considered rivets but decided this was faster and easier and would easily complete the task during the 1/2 hour silicone workable time. Using rivets means things can shift during drilling, and I don’t have...

Back in Cali. Turret hole covers cost $350-400 shipped. 🤦‍♂️ Eric and I just took 4’x4’ 18 ga cold rolled steel, painted it, and locked her down with silicone and self tapping screws. Positioned on roof and taped off. Rounded corners. Painted with self etching primer, (only came in grey)...
