Diesel runaway is a serious consideration. Did you bypass EGR? Bad EGR? Oil entering intake air will combust like injected Diesel fuel. It is called a “runaway engine”.
You best ensure this is not occurring. It will blow up your engine and turning the ignition off will do nothing.

Somewhere in the forum, from at least three years ago and probably more, someone took out the guts of their HMMWV flasher box and replaced with an aftermarket 24V unit. I’m certain you could do the same with one made to accept LED. There were pictures and instructions.
