I agree. I have seen that on a few. They have withstood a lot of years and vibration in that time. I had a few come apart in pieces and send the pieces thru the case/bell housing. Minor blemish. Replaced the flex plate and moved on. Easy way to change flex-plate with one man and no removal or...
I did manage to get the left fender and the entire body realigned on my current M1009 project. I used 2 HD ratchet straps to pull the body in alignment with the front end. Being that the body was off hanging from the ceiling and this is a different M1009 frame I expected a few adjustment...
Almost 7 years with out an answer. 1 7/8". I bought a socket many years ago to take them apart. That question has been answered late. But answered nonetheless. Have a Great Day.
Does it have any reinforcement behind the bumper? I have the hitch. I don't remember anything behind the bumper . Anyone. Trying to help out Tinstar. I thought the fixed hook I have has a GM part number on it. It looks the same without the swivel.
I scrapped 3 of them already. I try and tell them and it used to make me angry. Now I just follow orders no matter how ridiculous. I smashed about 200 A frame fiberglass ladders. Some were brand new. Cooperate does not want any A frame ladders in use anymore. We were given platform ladders...
I knew you could do it. I get the same feeling every time I open up a project real deep. I still wonder what I will encounter and how much over budget I am going to go once I start fixing customers vehicles. Most CUCVB's I seen recently have had a rough life of hacking and poor mechanics working...
I have a collection of pintle hooks. The left is an M1031 hook Non swivel type. I scrapped an M1031 a long time ago. It was a huge mess and damaged heavily when I bought it. The one on the right is a 4 bolt Holland hitch. These are what I would use. Or the M60 tank pintle. This was in a big...
Why NOT. No sitting around before the end of the day.
I wanted this shift rod for a customer and went to take it off. This is what held it on. Interesting. I guess it would work. it must have. Truck M1009 has been sitting here 19 years. Never noticed it. Easy on easy off. Oh yes. Left...
Maybe not always 100% accurate. But I had that happen and it was a loose ground on the front battery post. Check and see if yours are clean and tight. Good Luck.
I think it could be any of the above mentioned. Dumb question but have you checked the motor mounts. Is it possible that the pick up line on the fuel pump is pinched or cut on the right front frame rail. It happened to me on 2 CUCV's the first one was a Rausch Creek and I kept running out of...
Today was NOT a very nice day in south central Pennsylvania. I had some inside work to do and wanted to get that done. So I took advantage of the foul weather to stay in. Then I finished the inside work and it was time to sit and watch TV. No that don't get the fun stuff done. I would be...
I would use the pintle from an M1031. Less bumer damage and why would it have to swivel on the front. I doubt you will be going over rough terrain with a trailer attched to the pushing end. Just a thought, And that reinforcement is a sought after piece. I just sold one to a member here and one...
I only use TRS on the pan side. That prevents the swimming around of the pan. I never put anything in the rear main seal groove. Make sure you put the correct side out and do NOT line up the halves at the cap /block joints. I take the rear cap off and turn the crank while getting the seal up...
If it were me and I have changed a hundred or more I would go with changing the rear main seal while I was in that far. And I would use the gasket and the sealer. I always use Permatex The Right Stuff in a caulk tube. Why? It works. I use it as an adhesive for the gasket and have had zero...
No pictures. But a piece of flat bar tied into the frame flange and behind the pintle will do the job. Without and CUCV modifacations it would have to be bolt on. Very simple with a shop and some tools. good Luck. Not sure what suits you. I personnaly would want it bolted to the bumper or thru...
The second picture would be the nicest. Cut a square hole in the license plate area and fabricate a class 3 receiver in behind the bumper. If you don't like the hole or pintle when not in use mount a front license plate over the hole. Down fall is that the reciever pin is going to be a bit...
After 2 weeks of working on other projects and getting ahead on lawn work I was back at the left M1009 fender. Sure I could have mounted it last year but something was amiss. It had peeling paint on the inside and ZI tried to stop it and thought IO could live with it. I sprayed undercoating on a...
Dirty deeds done dirt cheap.Even an oil soaked frame and chassis can not conceal the rust and corrosion on Mr Rusty. It appears the oil cooler mount bracket has rusted off the left exhaust manifold and the oil cooler line has rubbed thru on the brake reinforcement on the firewall. Easy fix. Or...
I share knowledge on a daily basis. I also learn constantly. I am being truthful and honest with my replies. I have refrained from badgering or talking down on others that are less knowledgeable. I never direct people asking questions to TM's and sticky's. I try and think out every answer I give...
