I've checked on a couple different devices from temporary, removable ones to the type that are permanently installed. Cost is one factor for something that I've driven a total of 3 times this year. The other is adding a modification that makes the truck look "Bubba-ized." While I've added a...
Took the truck to an airshow last weekend and came to the conclusion that I can't do any more events outside of town. The show was only 65 miles away (so 130 round trip) and my right leg was shot by the time I got home. I'm going to do some work on trying to loosen the pedal up but even then...
Like Rory I'm fueled and ready. We're a bit south of him and they're talking 24"+ in San Antonio (which floods with 2" of rain). Sustained winds in our area expected at 60 mph and above. Luckily I had a tornado come through in May and take out several trees. With luck they were the ones...
I don't know of any hard mounts for pioneer tools. I bought a HMMWV kit that breaks down into a cloth carrier and just stowed that in my large tool locker. It's not as robust as a deuce kit but will get things done in a pinch.
Well I certainly thought I'd taken more pics of the install but apparently I didn't. Here are the only 2 I could find. The first is the passenger's floor. I added a piece of old cargo cover over the insulation so it wouldn't be silver where the drain holes were in the floor mat. The second...
A lot of people try just using the hand throttle too but I have this whole "don't want to kill anyone" thing going.
My issue is I have Multiple Sclerosis and my right leg is extremely weak due to that. AND I broke my right kneecap back in March and it's never gotten back to the strength it was...
The trip is still on but a few changes have been made.
Number one is we're moving the date to Oct 30-Nov 5. Hopefully the weather will be a bit cooler during the daytime.
And number two is that I won't be bringing the LMTV.
I did about an 80 mile trip yesterday with a parade in the...
Been a while since I posted anything here so thought I'd throw out an update.
Over Memorial Day Weekend we were in Ireland and had a tornado (well not technically a "tornado" as it didn't touch the ground) come over our place. It took half the ridge vent and about 5 rows of shingles off my...
Sorry to hear about this but glad you got it worked out to your satisfaction. Unfortunately I'm afraid I'd never go that far. Mine would be sold before I would be able to convince the wife we needed to spend that kind of money on it. Of course now I'm going to be paranoid every time I drive it.
And I apologize if I'm coming off overly harsh but it appears that you've never owned a former military vehicle of any type. There isn't really something that can be said like "just check this and that and you should be fine." That's especially true with the FMTVs. If you were to take it to a...
The exact point I was trying to make although you were much more direct. These are great vehicles to play around with but unless a person is willing to sink a lot of money into them to bring them up to more reliable standards they're not going to be overly dependable. Could mine make a 1000...
The issue is that it's a poorly or overly designed vehicle that was used/abused by 19 year old military drivers. The military mechanics are not trained in diagnosing problems they're trained to find out what part isn't working and replace that part and hope it then fixes the truck. Mine for...
Just edit your post and take out the eBay link. It's okay to ask if anyone can look at it for you and you can give them the info in a PM just don't post a live auction.
Mine as well but I keep it within 100 miles from home. If I want to go on vacation I want to GET there and enjoy it. The LMTV is a great toy but beyond that it's a money pit and the only reason I'm willing to get that far away from home is because I have great tow coverage on my insurance.
