Black Ice Driving - Atlanta area

I am reading this from Central Texas where it almost never snows, but WILL ice up at least once every winter. I agree with the poster who advised us to shift an auto tranny to neutral when stopping. Years ago I was driving a '95 F-150 with a 300 I6/auto in the ice/snow, everything went well on...

    Correct trailer for a M1009

Mine is mostly cast with a steel ball, so far it has been good, but I have not given it a real stress test (don't particularly want to either:))

    Correct trailer for a M1009

The lunette on the M416 rotates too, but my M1009 has a non rotating civvie pintle/ball hitch so it does not matter.

What is this? Not a shop van?

I has a padlock on the back, I wonder if it is still full of radio equipment? Judging by the junk piled on top it is likely full of the "good stuff" the scrap yard operator has squirreled away...

M1101 trailer picked up from Hooks

My M1009 was shipped from Illinois to OKC to be sold for $1000, that was another loosing proposition for us as taxpayers, but a win for me personally.

M1101 trailer picked up from Hooks

I am bugged that the trailer was at Ft.Hood (40 miles from my house) but sent sent to DRMO at Hooks to sell (300 miles from my house)!

    Hooks M1101 pics

There was one on eBay not long ago in SC listed as a M1101 generator trailer, no mention of the correct "M" number. It MAY be a standard M1101 with no bed, but it looks kinda like the M116 style flat bed gennie trailer. It was listed at $750 and nobody bought it...! (I hate being poor:()

    Correct trailer for a M1009

The M416 behind the M1009 is a dream, it does not affect the turning radius, and adds some hauling ability. It took some practice but I did eventually learn how to back up with the M416, and I can see it in the mirror behind me, but I am 6'3" and have a different angle of view. Ditto on the...

    Another M1009 towing capacity question

Weight is the key. If your trailer has surge brakes (A2/A3 variety) and is not over loaded (1.5 ton max) then you should be good and safe. I would NOT recommend any more than a 4000lb gross towed load behind a M1009, and then only with trailer brakes. Remember your truck only weighs #5300 empty.

    Good pickup at Hooks

There were some very nice M105s at Hooks last auction that did not get any bids at all.
