    Stock CUCV Harmonic Balancer Upgrade

So, I take it that you DID go with the Fluiddampner? Good the hear it worked. Personally, I've never tried one, but I have seen a difference when changing from an auto to a manual trans. I guess the extra weight of flywheel/clutch and pressure plate smoothed it out.

    What's your sulfur substitute?

To each, their own. I care about you adding oil to an oil about as much as you care about me not adding oil to oil. Neither of us are going to convince the other to change their mind.

    What's your sulfur substitute?

Just stating some facts, while at it I'll ask a question. How many IP's are out there on running engines that HAVE NOT BEEN REBUILT SCINCE 198WHATEVER? Rebuilders do improve parts as does the OEM.

    What's your sulfur substitute?

Not a thing, I have several million miles behind me in various trucks and the only time I've added anything to the fuel was 2 times I needed a biocide and once I had an ice slushy build up around a fuel filter and it started to freeze up, a dash of 911 (red bottle) and back on the road. I...

    Starter bellhousing clearance

What exactly is the difference between the gas and diesel bell housing? Is it just starter clearance? If so can you use a Hi-torque mini starter? I've had pretty good luck with some of them in the past. Next idea, not ideal but since you know how far off the housing can it be shimmed or welded...

    Starter bellhousing clearance

Thanks for the info, I got to thinking about your bellhousing problem and thought why not have in milled down? Know anybody that has a milling machine? I'm not a machinist but even I could do it if it would fit on my machine (it won't) I'd look around for a small one or two man shop and offer...

    M1008 rear shocks repositioning

I've made my own shock mounts a few times out of flat stock about 5/16" thick, not hard to do. I did learn that after drilling and before welding to make and bolt the pieces together with a spacer the size of the shock. Mounting them in the center like the pic would put quite the strain on the...

    Starter bellhousing clearance

" which is part of an irreplaceable Ranger 2 speed gear splitter which is no longer in production. " I have the same in front of an SM465. Pretty odd piece of hardware nowadays, mine was rebuilt by an old timer and I remember him telling most all the parts are from an SM465! How is your...

    Starter bellhousing clearance

Have you tried using a pilot BEARING instead of the bushing? I just went down this road and had always used bushings and didn't even know about the bearings, got one at IIRC Auto Zone for about $25. Is there any play on the tranny input shaft? I've been sitting here pondering this and I'd be...

What to do while I'm at it...

This might sound stupid, but does the OP have a fan shroud and is it in good condition? This is very important and hasn't been addressed.

Stock Trans Oil Cooling Lines Routing

$47 bucks is not a bad price, almost makes me want to get a set just in case, but I no longer have an automatic trans!

    Central FL M1031 project

You pulled the engine with the radiator in place? Personally, I would have pulled the radiator and given serious thought to removing the core support, it's not that many bolts and you wouldn't have to lift the engine so high. In the past I've pulled the engine and tranny out the front, that was...

    How to refurbish door cards?

I've used SEM, I've had color pre mixed for a specific code and I've used spray bombs from auto parts store for interior.

    How to refurbish door cards?

I've had good luck painting them , even changing colors. I wash them with soap and water and a stiff brush, dry well and then (using gloves) wipe down with lacquer thinner, really soak it and make sure to use a LINT FREE RAG, the plastic will get a bit sticky, at that time let thinner flash off...

    M1009 Brakes

Has that truck been parked on a slope with that side downhill? I'd bet that that's gear oil and it slipped past the seal while parked.

Have any of you weighed your modified CUCV?

IIRC the empty weight of my truck weighed at the scrap dealer was 6550 with me in the seat and a half tank of fuel.
