    M1008 air in fuel line

Before I'd jump on the fuel pump, I'd be looking really hard at the filter assembly. I doubt the leak is big enough to see fuel dripping but you may find a damp spot, do you have a way to pressurize the fuel tank? Just a few (5psi) will show you where the leak is. If you can pressurize it and...

Gas millage dropping down from 18 MPG to 15 MPG

Some of the above is dead on, it's cold outside. What happens to oil and grease when it get cold? It gets thicker, from the oil in the pan putting more drag on the oil pump to the ATF in the tranny and TC all the way to the differentials and wheel bearings. The cold also effects the tires and...

Rear Driver Side Injector Replacement Tips

Move shifter from P to 1st, I think that will do it. How are your cab mounts? You shouldn't be having this problem.

    Crank no start

I'm leaning on bad GP's, very little fuel comes out of the injectors. get the truck inside and warm, check those GP's and go from there.

Correct flexplate to torque converter spacing

In all these years and all the tranny's, I've removed, I have never come across any spacers that I remember. If I ever did I'd think some shade tree mechanic did a hack job.

    Cummins 12v into my CUCV

Pulling something out of a stuck situation is totally different than towing down the road. My son (kids know it all and old men know nothing) didn't believe me that towing a 30' camper behind a square body Blazer was a horrible idea. I had no idea what I was talking about! Then he used the...

    Driveshaft

As a guy that has never had a new vehicle I've rarely seen that, and the ONLY time I have seen the oem U-joints with that plastic has been on CUCV's and they have been some of the oldest vehicles I've had, kinda odd.

Are there tips and tricks to get the side mirrors to stay in place?

I used duct tape, it worked but eventually turned to dust. Next time I'll try Scotch 88.

TR-6060 transmission on a M1010? Anybody done it?

All that is available and probably cheaper than redoing both diff's. I'm not familiar with most tranny's mentioned but I do know about the 700R4 I swapped one in and left the 4.56 gears and easily cruised at 65-70 . The problems would start when I hit a hill, it doesn't take much of a hill or...

TR-6060 transmission on a M1010? Anybody done it?

A lot of this gear ratio talk is lost on me, but knowing that the 6.2 is such a power house and torque monster why would you want any tranny that has a double over drive? A M1010 is heavy to start with, get it loaded for camping or whatever and it's not going to go very fast except downhill!

    M1009 Rear axle seals...???

That's it, just the one seal.

    CUCV Battery Recommendations

Time to slow down a bit, I had a similar wake up call 2 years back. Went to dinner with my wife and woke up with EMS doing CPR, had a second episode a couple hours later in the hospital, bright and early next morning I got a pace maker installed. It changed my way of thinking and my outlook on...

    Keeping a M1009 alive

I was hoping to come in here today and see that it was up and running, might have a bad cell in a battery or justa bad connection. Could be like I did had the charger on a car in my driveway and when I was cleaning up that night I dutifully unplugged everything, including the extension cord...

    Body Joint Lead

Boy o boy, I see guy's have been jumping all over this thread! I did a little (meaning very little) lead work back around 1975 or 76 and IIRC that's what I used. Not sure what alloy I used or what alloy yours is. I do used oak paddles with beeswax on them to smooth the lead, I remember quite...

    Keeping a M1009 alive

Parts on the way, should be there on Wed. or Thursday. Good luck. Never had to use any Teflon plumbers tape to seal IP lines. Whatever you do, do not get any in where it will end up in the injectors!

    1986 M1008 5/4 CUCV

Nice to have spare parts like that! I didn't mean to sound like I was degrading your truck and apologize for coming off that way. Glad to hear about just the cab, hopefully the PO didn't sand the paint very well before bed lining it.

    Keeping a M1009 alive

If you want to pay the shipping I have the line you need. Do not make your own those lines are a specific inside diameter and length.

    1986 M1008 5/4 CUCV

I could live with the bumpers and the roll bar, those stacks would go, but why the heck would did the dumb PO spray it with bed liner? With me that would have to go or maybe a deal killer.

    Exhaust manifold install tricks anyone???

I remember using wire ties that come on loaves of bread, not sure if it was on a CUCV or not but what works on works on others, I do know I just tightened up the bolts with that thin wire in there.
