What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Wow, sounds like a really nice area! My situation might be 6 acres, with a river running through it/dividing it in half. Neighbors behind me though and their driveway crosses the property. The road makes a couple hairpin turns but I don't think it'll require any 3-pointers! At first, I...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

LOL at your description. My situation might be similar, hopefully living down a dirt road next fall, second to last house accessed by it. Place has a circular driveway, perfect for a 5 ton!

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Sweet! I'm planning on daily driving my 5 ton once I get one but if that happens it's going to have to be an -A2 model...the 4-5 MPG just won't do in my situation. (I'd settle for an A1 but wouldn't be driving it everywhere I don't think). I wonder what your neighbors think?

    CDL? (in New Hampshire)

I wonder if the "under-registering" thing works in other states? It seems like a good way around some of the CDL laws that can be ridiculous for the average person.

This site is like CRACK! So, I bought a 5 ton....

Wow, that's a really neat concept! I think I'm going to look for a M939A2 with an ISO bed. I like the versatility of such a setup.

new toy (m916a1) to be made into a 4000 gallon water truck.

Nice looking truck! All those M939s in the background...is this all your own personal "motorpool"?

Other than being a foot longer, what's the "advantage" of the ISO bed? Does it still have the troop seats?

I wonder how rare/common the ISO bed really is? I've never seen or heard of such a thing until now. And that's one happy-looking guy behind the wheel! And 70MPH...wow! That's quite something!

    What color?

That is a STRANGE looking truck!
  16. 71DeuceAK

    What color?

When you say "green camo" are you referring to the 3-color pattern like it currently has? Or more of a "woodland" style?

Your story made me chuckle. Everyone who says I'll be unpopular doesn't really have the up-close and in-person experience with MVs that enthusiasts like us do. In my case, I wanted one because of how well they do offroad but it was a quick, slippery slope to deciding I'd have an old pre-LMTV...

    What color?

I say leave her as is, maybe just a refresh of the original colors. I like the 3-color camo on the M939 series 5 tons myself. With a Deuce I'm a fan of the solid 3-83 green.

The 755 Dollar M54A2 Five Ton

Sounds like a good score and a fun project to boot! I actually kinda like the red paint job, believe it or not. Keep us posted on how any restoration work goes!

That's the reaction I get when I tell friends I want a Deuce or 5 ton as a daily driver. "You're gonna get like 5 MPG!" "Everyone will be flipping you off on the freeway!" etc. I personally enjoy them laughing at me, since I can imagine I'll have the last laugh later when my truck can do...
