    M37 Barn Find

Been working my way through the new (old) wire harness. Even though it’s a used harness, it is in remarkably good condition. Some of the connections had to be replaced because of deterioration of the connectors but over all, it’s worth every penny!

    WTH, Found a tank today.

Thank you for the correction. The Army and Marine Corps have different ways of identifying their vehicles.

    M37 Barn Find

I found two good tail lights amongst the box of light assemblies. Both have glass lenses and both have good wiring. One of the lights has two wires and the other has three. Been going through the aft wiring harness and almost have it ready to install. The forward harness is a lot more difficult...

    What did you say?

If you need dummy headsets (non powered), I’ve found good ones at True Value, Lowe’s, Ranch stores and others. Pretty inexpensive and hearing will greatly appreciate reducing the noise. One problem I’ve had with the little ones is their insistence on not wearing them.

    Replacement jack suggestions for M1009

I’ve got hydraulic jacks, mechanical jacks, screw type jacks, a couple high lift jacks, OEM jacks and even have a model A or T jack. Unfortunately, I only have one CUCV jack and it’s installed in my 1009.

    M37 Barn Find

Last night I decided it was time to look for correct era front and rear tail lights. I have 10 or so older style light assemblies. Unfortunately, it was extremely difficult to take them apart. Screws had snapped off, water had gotten into the innards and just plain age related damage. After...

    M37 Barn Find

The thought crossed my mind. Unfortunately, there’s too many modifications done in the engine compartment to go back to the six cylinder. I appreciate the offer! Pretty much everything electrical is toast. Gonna be interesting to get it all working again. Here’s an example of a hillbilly fix:

    WTH, Found a tank today.

Here’s an interesting tidbit you might find interesting. The below excerpt from a book shows everything armored in or near Ruston LA. I’ll try to figure out how the book is laid out and I’ll see what else is to be gleaned from it. The serial number is important in finally figuring out the conundrum.

    WTH, Found a tank today.

Usually it is stenciled on both sides and on the back end. Usually the letters are 3 inch tall and are placed on the fender(?) that overlaps the tracks. Also, the tank belonged to 1-108 Mississippi National Guard. Try contacting the Mississippi National Guard headquarters. I’d recon they’ll have...

    WTH, Found a tank today.

I would never advocate midnight requisitioning of government property. However, a fine example of American iron, just sitting there, gives a potential for a display in a small piece of land. Somebody owns the land but they don’t seem to care what’s done with it. Someone owns the tank but they...

    M37 Barn Find

I started cutting out wires. Got most of the stuff out of the engine compartment. I’ve got a used M37 wiring harness. I also picked up a complete wiring harness from some unknown truck. It’s got all the metal connectors that are messed up on the M37 harness. Still got to dig into the instrument...

    M37 Barn Find

I’m not sure how the wiring job did what it was supposed to do. It’s a spaghetti mess! Think I’m going to call uncle and just replace the whole harness. Fortunately, thank you again hendersonj, for those harnesses! Now to make it all work again...

    M37 Barn Find

And the wiring problems continue... The lights were acting up. Neither front ones were operating correctly. I went to start the truck and except for a slight popping sound, nothing is working. Battery is fully charged and the terminals are nice and clean. So, I’m removing all the newer stuff and...

    M1009 FUEL PRESSURE

You are describing a problem I had with my 1009. I troubleshot the fuel system components one time at a time. Everything was fine until I found that the original filter was a pos. I removed it and replaced it with a round, screw in type filter and mount. I haven’t had a problem since then.

    M1009 Little Red Riding Hood.

I received a 180,00 to 220,000 btu “cannon” heater for Christmas. It goes through a 5 gallon container of diesel about every other day. It’ll burn diesel, kerosene, and some other types. It was a bit expensive but it keeps my 2,400 sf barn warm. I too hate working in the cold.
