    Log of my 1995 Hummer

Shaking her out, driving to work. New brakes catch/pulsate. Gonna see if a little wear smoothes them out. A/C drips. Gonna wait on fixing that until Autumn. Gonna rip off the rusting brush guard and weld up a new better one soon. Rusting roof rack has gotta go. I’ll keep the feet and weld up...

Where is the Transmission Control valve located?

Ok. In the future, always post the year of your vehicle and the transmission type and engine type. Might be good to put it in your signature. You have a turbo hydromatic 400. Totally mechanical transmission. That is the most bulletproof transmission ever manufactured by GM. Make sure your...

Where is the Transmission Control valve located?

Very low transmission fluid will do the same thing. Burnt out clutch pads will do the same thing. Best is to fill to full and follow the Tammy TM as previously posted for you.

Where is the Transmission Control valve located?

1-ensure transfer case is not in “L” 2-look up tranny tm and jumper J2 port A-E and write down the codes. (You will understand what I am talking about once you read the technical manual.) https://www.steelsoldiers.com/attachments/4l80e-transmission-troubleshooting-tcm-supplement_7-pdf.903367/

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Great work and awesome photos. I know what you mean about not enough hands. Years ago I confronted my parents as to why they never spent the extra moneys to have additional factory OEM arms with hands attached. Apparently they were pinching pennies as a young couple. I was a JC Penny blue...

M1123 A2 Power Steering return line blowing off

Agree with Mogman. New line that is 2” longer. New clamps. Make sure you route the hose properly some nothing catches on it. I suspect the inside of that hose has been ripped up from pulling off several times and the inner diameter is too wide. I also suspect this happened before so they cut...

What have you done to your HMMWV today/lately

Fine small files and 200 grit sandpaper. Dilute Muriotic acid. New brushes. I’m certain you’ll do a great job of it. Please shoot some pictures.

Humvee won’t start, no wait light

Get rid of the keyed ignition! Make sure you get power at the ignition wires. Clean and check your battery connections.

Starting a new build waste of time, effort and money

Please stop posting in all caps. That is considered shouting and is against TOS on this forum.

    It's alive!!!

Are you certain your red fuel contains ATF and that no one used heating oil instead of Diesel fuel? Heating oil and offroad Diesel fuel are red.

    It's alive!!!

TNDRIVER is correct but left out the most important step. Jack the vehicle up so that it is at least 15 degrees elevated front over back. Then start the vehicle and turn the front wheels right locked to left and then left to right lock, 20 times. Then put the vehicle down and let it sit for two...

    HMMWV air and temp controls

You can easily straighten those with a little time and TLC, if the inner cables are not frozen.

First time Humvee owner, lifetime admirer w/ a Q...

Off topic. It caused the fan to hit the radiator. My question stands… is there a new revised TM regarding fording water in the REV B and C vehicles with mechanical geared fan. Take care and be well Steve. Charles

    Transmission control module questions

Super easy. Trust in the force Luke. The TM a goes over tranny function and troubleshooting in painfully detailed descriptions with pictures and arrows. Initially seems daunting. It isn’t. Just simple grunt work with a few protocols to follow. You will be OK.

Steve, good to hear from you. A friend of mine just took his rig into the ocean and ripped up his radiator. Just sayin’. I wonder if something in the design must have been changed to allow fording in the REV B and C units. What is in the revised TM?

First time Humvee owner, lifetime admirer w/ a Q...

Unless you can turn off your fan, water fording is a bad idea. The fan will act like a screw propeller and pull itself into the radiator.

    6.5 Tick When Warm 1151A1 2007

See if it clears with higher viscosity oil. OR, wash out engine with tranny fluid mix vs commercial oil cleaner and then replace with Rotella 15-40.
