I just replaced them all along the past 23 years with what was there when parts failed and that has served me well. I do know that you have to cut the 3/16" spades from the harness and add 1/4" spades. I don't like cutting harnesses and 13G's always worked for me. When they went bad I replaced...
Final update of the day. Electrical is my weakest link. Especially fixing hacked wiring. I done great with the generators and the cluster. I am taking a beating on the GP system. If I have the pink wire on the top little stud of the relay the glow plugs glow and never shut off. If I have the...
Did you read the TM 9-2320-289-20 tech manual of how to test the wiring and switchs for the GP controller? It is chapter 2-15 of the electrical troubleshooting section.
Where do I find this. I have been looking at all the TM's
OK back up a moment here. I did get the truck to start but it is putting power to the glow plugs all the time. I left it run over 2 minutes and it has power going to them. I disconnected the top 24 volt from the resistors and looked for other issues. It has the old style temperature sensor on...
Volt meter problem solved. The stock volt meter would peg out every time I turned the key on. The VDO volt meter does the job and the M1009 is back starting and charging as designed. Now I need to get the cluster back in the dash and get all the cluster lights working. I have removed most of the...
Yes Sir that is going to need some work to make it nice again. That floor covering is the culprit. Am I seeing plywood. Gives a whole new meaning to the word floor boards. You may want to look for another M1009. Honestly I would walk away. Merry Christmas.
I found a long bolt for the bottom of Gen 2 and I made a spacer. That will be helpful to fix the bolt thru bracket only attachment. Time to evict the Mud Daubers. I know its Christmas but they have to go. Gen 2 all bolted back in place and the wiring repaired. All is well. I figured out the glow...
Seeing some pictures would be helpful. LMC panels are not the best but I am going to say that nothing is an exact fit. I have bought LMC panels and used sections out of them to replace rusted floors in M1009 CUCV's. Many times I hammered out and fabricated panels from sheet metal and other donor...
Don't try. Do it. It is very easy no special skills required. Just a big pan to catch the fluid. A 1/4" ratchet and a 13 MM socket is all you need. Good Luck Merry Christmas.
Easy as getting a large pan that will catch all the fluid. Unless you are a fortunate one and have a drain plug on the transmission pan. Just loosen all the M8 bolts with a 13mm socket and when they are all loose. take off the bolts on one side and allow the pan to lean and drain from one corner...
This is a 5 year old thread but the information is still good to know. Very helpful information here. I was looking at it because of my current issues with a customers truck. I was never aware of the cluster bulbs being different. I used 194 bulbs on all the bulbs. Never knew it would matter...
:)I can do that I think. I also have new cards with fancy lights I never used. :)I could always put one of them in if you think it would be safe to do so? Well?
I have it mounted on the firewall. I had these HD relays on several CUCV's in the past. The metal body of the relay is mounted in fresh drilled holes with new screws. Anything else I can check? Also the volt meter just pegs itself when I turn the key on. I guess I must get the fluke out. Does...
Anyone see what is missing over on Gen 1? Gen 2 had a special lower mount bolt. Someone ground the knurling from a starter bolt and ditched the spacer. A Mud Dauber seen it as a vacancy and moved right in. Hate to tell him. After Christmas I am evicting him. What is with the injection pump...
I am at this point with a truck I am working on. Everything is wired stock but I can not get the relay to clunk in. I did a visual of the glow plugs. They are all good. The wait light comes on but the relay does not close. I swapped the relay same results. I started with just Gen 1 light I found...
