My diagnosis of the cause is that the CV joint on the front drive shaft locked up and could not articulate/compress properly and forced the pressure back against the transfer case.( the weakest link) I had it happen on plow trucks. 2 already snapped at highway speed and broke the transfer case...
Is it possible the resistor on the heater box is bad? You could also have a few fins broken from the squirrel cage of the blower fan. That is an easy access motor. You may want to loosen the rea battery and slide it forward. I have bought replacements from any brand and have had good luck. They...
My 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 4 door Crew Cab is being made in Fort Wayne Indiana. Here is an copy and paste from a GM letter.
Regular cab is last to launch too, I assume due to the fact that Ft.Wayne is handling crew cab and double cab launch production. Once Silao starts spitting out crew cab...
An M1010 does not have the limited slip front axle or the auxiliary leaf springs on the rear axle. The M1010 was a cab chassis that was made to be an M1010. I seen one CUCV that never made M1010 status with a regular cargo bed on it. The A/C lines were still capped off and the big generators...
After a hard day of play in the barn I did manage to get the brakes bled out and the new E-brake cable installed up front in the cab to the rear cables. I did have to phone a Friend to come help me. I also drove the M1009 out of the barn on its own power. And drove it up the drive way in 4 LO so...
Should be a round metal tag on the rear of the transfer case. And easy the NP208 is Aluminum and the NP205 is Steel. I doubt you have an NP205 in an M1009. Could be. But doubtful. Frohe Weihnachten.
I would say it is the pump suction on a dirty filter that you are hearing. Service the transmission and filter and go from that point. I say the sound goes away. And 64K is NOT the issue. 30 years + is the issue. Lots of cracked seals and parts inside the old TH400. Happy Holidays.
Time to bleed the brakes. And also I purchased an original A C Delco radiator cap from the local GM dealer. It list for $17. and cost me a few cents south of $10. A C Delco RC27 GM part number 10409635. Genuine GM part from the GM dealer. Made in India. Works for me. I was hoping it was...
I agree. Comparing a Dodge and a Ford to a Chevrolet/GMC plow truck is just wrong. I agree the M1009 is quick to respond in tight places and it has served well for the past 20 years. But like I said the comfort level for long term plowing is gone in the older trucks. I hope it don't snow. I am...
The D ring tubes will be for sure. And you can build from that point and add steel to the upper part of the bumper. Have welder and steel with an idea you can build. I built some very useable things from scrap parts and stock steel. Wood hauler from a Honda mower with trailer from a hand truck...
No Joy here. I continue to find wiring that has been pulled out and spliced under the hood. I now have the under dash wiring in place but no ground to the Gen 2 light socket terminal. This is when my love of newer vehicles grows. I never had the cluster out of any other plow vehicle looking for...
I seen the window stickers on the M1009's right off the carriers. They were over $17K. and the M1010 was over $50K. I can not vouch for the pickups. I don't remember the price of them to affirm and debate. I had one of the stickers in my tool box from an M1009 and somewhere in time it got lost...
I have the hacked up harness removed and on the cargo bed. The replacement one is re-taped at a few places and about ready to install. Dropping the steering column is an easy task to access everything on the upper column. Moving right along. I am hoping this resolves the light issue. Not sure...
Its a beautiful day in the neighborhood. This is a prime example of how a small fix turns into a hack job. This truck was with another division within the company. They had some issues with the heater switch and decided to install a radio in it. The wiring was hacked into at several places. I am...
That's correct and a stripped bare bones m1009 was almost $18K. I drove them when they arrived at the dealership. They needed recall work as soon as they arrived. The M1010's were at our dealership for almost a year with charging issues. They were over $50K.
8 hours plowing in a CUCV is like 40 hours plowing in the 2015 GMC 2500. I did break a few things on both trucks but I still like the newer trucks on my older body. That and the climate control and entertainment system works out better when plowing 24 hours straight. I lost Big Red over the...
I am guilty of the same pleasures. Love the new Chevys. Look forward to a new truck every 5 years. I have been waiting for 6 months on my new truck. Due mid January 2019. I still like the old CUCV's but I agree it is the reliability and comfort that I desire most from the new truck. Nice truck...
