Check out CUCV Hot rodding and Modification. They are into that stuff over there.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

That issue with the generator 2 lower bracket was even present on GM water pumps towards the end when they were still GM pumps. Now they are marketed as A C Delco and they are the same as all parts. World wide market. They work fine I have installed many over the years. The modification to the...

    Steering Drag Link

Thanks for Sharing your POSITIVE post with all. I have over maintained all of my vehicles and equipment all my life. I use things a bit hard at times. But they hold up. My Terminus M1009 stood the test of extra severe abuse and use. It held up. I worked on it a lot but it held up. The best I...

    M1008 shifter

As a good measure I would pull back on rhe spring and nylon pivot point and pack a little wheel bearing grease in that bracket pocket on the frame. Good Luck, Glad I could help out. You can learn a lot from a Dummy. Happy Holidays.

    M1008 shifter

I found these pictures in my Terminus M1009 thread I posted these 5/21/2016. I like to use up all the paint I have around the shop. I get it from little projects I get involved in. Good Luck. I think it is linkage related. Happy Holidays.

    M1008 shifter

Yes there should be a spring a washer and a plastic pivot ball in the frame.

    M1008 shifter

Are you sure the nut on the bell crank is not slipping. That shifter mechanism is a crude set up. I am thinking the bolt on the bell lock is slipping. Disconnect the rod and see if you have the correct clicks in the column shifter.

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Today being BLACK Friday I had family duties to attend and a list a mile long. So early up and at it. I was given a 12 NON deadline for play in the garage and then had to get with the family for some travel. I figured well if I get up early enough I can get a lot done. The pictures up top were...

Doesn't take much to stick my 1031

That tire you have in the picture was a long time looking for an accident. When the rubber gets that thin sage grass will cut thru and chunk the rubber from the carcass. Not sure where you are going with this theory/analysis but I really don't think any tire was designed to run chains on when...

    Injection pump woes I think

Also check the right side of the pump. See if the lever on the side is moving freely. It runs up and down on the right side and pushes a small plunger. I don't know the technical term. But if you can clean and lube things on the side of the pump it may run a bit better. Only a suggestion. NOT a...

Doesn't take much to stick my 1031

Also workhorse was a better all round tire... duratracs do not last... Define do NOT last? No they are NOT a 40K mile tire. Most people don't buy Extra Grip tires for the mileage. I go thru about 1 set of Goodyear Duratrac tires a year. They are the best tires I have ever used and many people I...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Last night I was digging thru my stash of body parts and I came across a right OEM inner fender that has been in my possession since the glaciers were forming. It had battery boxes attached and was cribbaged a bit on the front edge. Zero rust. It was from back when I had an M1028 and was...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

I installed my GM replacement radiator in my CCV project. It is a factory Harrison replacement. I used to have 10 of them. This was the last one I have. Searched for this clamp and found it in my stash. Oil line to fan shroud clamp. I always wrap them with electrical tape to keep the steel off...

1986 CUCV M1009 Decade after being wrecked.

Well as the M1028 is now my daily driver I needed to do some improvements. I never minded the rattles and door slamming when it was a scrap and wood hauler. But I took a few minutes and done some $0. upgrades. Scrap PEX tubing from a plumbing job I recently done. Removed the striker and used a...

    Steering Drag Link

SSDVC. You can trust my judgement and advise. I wouldn't pat attention to who or where the parts are built. I built your truck and several like it. I have been using parts from all over the world. Brand bashing is as old as Chevy vs Ford. I have fixed $250K trucks that had coolant leaks and...

    Coolant leak

I will say without looking that is the belts and pulleys are getting antifreeze on them it could cause a squeal. But I would also think that a belt that is maxed out and polished is causing the issue. I have found that belts vary on each truck. I get a set that are tight when the pulley is...

    Squealing belt / charging issue

The -20 manual for the CUCV has a great 74 page electrical troubleshooting section. The very first thing it says for any electrical issue is to load test your batteries and make sure they are charged. I agree. And you can read it all day. No where in that entire book does it at to bypass the...

Do you have the glow plug resistors bypassed on the fire wall?

    Steering Drag Link

Just replace them with new parts that fit the vehicle. Don't play into this who and where it was made. If it fits and corrects the problem that is all that matters. In all the parts I replace they come from all over the world. They seem to do a good job. What one guy says is junk is another guys...

    Coolant leak

My guess would be the water pump seal is leaking. It has a small weep hole on the bottom side of the water pump shaft. Also could be water cross over manifold gaskets. That is my guesses from afar. Good Luck and Happy Thanksgiving.
